think this through for a minute, and tell me what you really think...if you have something to support any stats you quote, even better!
thanks!
here's the question....
do you think that JM lost the election, or do you think BO won the election?
why do you think that?

I think that BO won the election rather than JM losing it.
I think that because so many people were so energized about him as a candidate, and so many were so thrilled when he won.
if somehow JM had been elected, i think i would have felt like BO lost the election rather than JM winning it....
I am interested to see what people think

I think I see the distinction you are trying to make...
I think Obama won the election, and I think that is even more apparent now that his approval rating is at 65%, much more than the 52% of people who actually voted for him.
I do think that McCain contributed to his own demise, however, by getting so negative and focussing on Obama the man, and not Obama's policies.
ITA with your post....
except this part....

not that i don't agree with it..i just don't understand it....
how can his approval rating have jumped so much and he isn't even in office!?
i dont get it, can you help me out?
if 65% of americans liked him so much, why didn't they vote for him?

I think a little of both contributed to Obama's win.
I'm just speculating here but I think his approval rating has increased because people are actually now taking the time to get to know him.

Oh, I forgot to answer your original question.
thanks for the input!
that would be good in some ways and sad in others (IMO)
it would be good that people are getting to like him if they didn't before...
but it would be sad that they didn't do that before the election.
my naieve guess at the explanation was that the sampling was too small to be representative....
for example, if you took an approval rating poll in my state, BO would be around 65-70%....but that is also the percent of people who voted for him in my state....
IDK..interesting.
