I don't need drugs or alcohol to make me happy. Those kind of superficial habits only cloud one's judgment. What makes me happy? Happy thoughts, happy people...positive thoughts and positive people. Nothing can bring a person more down than someone who is negative and unhappy so I try to stay away from people with those characteristics. More importantly, I thrive on doing the things I love most...and that makes me happy!

Good question. For me, happiness is the result of living in the light of my Higher Power's wishes for me. Doing "the next right thing" and doing for others without expecting anything in return has given me more joy and happiness than I could ever have asked for.
Happiness comes from within one's self. Nothing materialistic can make me happy - happiness is a by-product of giving - in giving to others I receive so much back!

I like to go to the mall, the book store, rent a good movie, hang out with friends, read a new magazine or a book, see what's going on on iVillage, take a long shower, and if all else fails: take a long nap!!!

To get myself in a happy mood...I will

Put on jazzy music..sing and dance around the room

Pray....Take a bubble bath...Go for a walk

Cook Chili..... Listen the Big Book or Bible

Spray on perfume, slather on make up, wear red

Eat Ice Cream....Call a friend....Go to an AA meeting

Things that work for me ... journaling; listening to happy music; visualizing; meditating; working on being grateful; finding simple pleasures in life, slowing down and smelling the roses; walks in nature; spending time with kids ... especially ones that are less fortunate, that really gets my priorities straight! ... taking some time for myself to read or bath or do girly things; singing; watching a feel good movie.
