When I stopped drinking, I still had me to deal with. The attitude I had to change was my fear...which almost always came out as rage. I had to get some counselling, and use the steps to find out what inside me was making me so afraid. Oddly enough, the counselor, caught in her own paradigms,

OH BRENDA, I have never seen a better example of projection!!!
The day I finally realized and accepted that I didn't have to be perfect in order for people to love me, and that those who do love me love me as I am. This realization changed a lot of things in the way I functionned. Suddenly, I didn't have to be Super Pops anymore. Phew! I could take things day by day and not have to foresee everything for the next year. I learned to focus on the now, and that now is a good place to be.
I had to realize that I didn't have to be what other people wanted me to be. I still have that "needing to be perfect" bug once in a while.
I pray often during my day.

You are so right, not everything can be done right now. We have a saying...progress not perfection.
