I am Beth, alcoholic, and I haven't had a drink in 24 hours (okay, a few more than 24, but I live just for today).

How about you...?

HAHAHAHA

Well I survived...my Dad's stents....my sister's visit.....my DD's (way too many) birthday parties: a surprise party last Friday, dinner with my ILs on Wednesday, and, on her real birthday, brownies with my Dad.

Hi Beth! I have not had a drink since Sunday and I have to be honest. The days are ok, pretty great actually as I have a ton of energy and a better attitude. But the evenings suck. I am beyond BORED and frustrated - I know it sounds lame but it's the truth. Climbing the walls even. I've had to take an Ambien to sleep or a Xanax (last night) just to chill out. I don't know how you abstainers do it but I certainly have a new appreciation for you guys.

Pug hugs, Kelli

Hi Kelli,

One thing that has helped me with sleeping is taking a nice hot bath at night. It in general helps you relax. If you like tea you may want to try a nice herbal tea with that as well.

The reason I am such a fan of this "for me" is because I remember when my daughter was just a baby and we wanted to establish a "routine" (as much as you can get with a baby). A warm-tepid bath was a way for her to establish the routine for bedtime and she fell into it eventually :-). Once she had a bath--it was time for bed. So, that was my motivating factor for trying it...Warm water calms and comforts. I thought if I can retrain myself to associate a warm bath with relaxation than I would sleep better.

Does it work everytime "for me" right now? I'd be lying if I said yes...BUT it has help a lot and I've noticed my sleep is more restful lately. I hope this is helpful! Take care and Hugs!
