My TT homework

“Can you believe that!” Stacy told her friend Amanda. “ And all this time you though he was cool!”

“Well I am not believing it until his comes from his lips.” She said with a sigh. “So Stacy who did you hear it from?”

“Well I can’t tell you.”

Amanda hung up the phone with Stacy still yapping about the new rumor that dealt with her boyfriend. By Monday it would be all over school and town for that matter, oh what was she to do? Keven was seen hugging another girl. Well know that Keven was compassionate it did not really bother her. If you ever need a friend Keven was there. This town would be better if people minded there own business.

Amanda hated this town since the day she moved here from California. There was just nothing to do, movies were an hour away. No fast food just a small cafe that served good food. Her only love of this town were the majestic mountains that surrounded it, Amanda’s only haven, a place she could go and walk off her troubles.

Well the weekend wore by and bore the way for Monday. Facing up to this rumor was the unexpected highlight of her day. Classes flew by as some of her friends apologize to her for what her boyfriend did to her. Amanda shrugged it off as Stacy came up with her lunch. They chatted as they ate.

“Well Amanda what are you going to do? Please tell me you are going to dump him,” as she took another bite of her sandwich.

The look that Amanda gave her could have melted the cheese in Stacy’s sandwich. “I am not going to dump Keven over a stupid rumor. When we have the time we are going to talk. I am sure that he had a good reason for what happened, and until then I don’t want to hear another word.”

Stacy had kept the rest of the lunch topic to anything but rumors, which Amanda was glad for. Nearing the end of lunch Amanda had a strange feeling. When she turned to look all she saw was Keven with a lady friend. Amanda heart lunged, as she tried to talk. A frantic Hi Keven tumbled off her lips.

Keven stood there looking at his love. Why was she jumpy? He took Amanda’s hand as he brought it to his lips. He swept a few kisses across her knuckles. “Amanda, I would like you to meet my cousin Kit. She will be finishing the school year here.” He felt her relax in his hand.

“Nice to meet you Kit,” Amanda said with a grin, “ if you need anything just let me know.” She introduced Stacy to Kit and asked if her and Keven could have a word alone.

They walked hand in hand to the back of the school. Keven pulled Amanda closer. “Well Mandy, why were you so jumping back there?”

“Oh Keven please, I was jealous of you with Kit. Stacy called me and told me that you were seen hugging some girl. I brushed it of until I saw you with her. Please don’t hate me.”

He held her tight, “Mandy, Mandy, Mandy, what am I to do with you?” He let out a soft chuckle. “ Since when do you listen to rumors? Well the rumor was right I was hugging her. She will tell you why when she is comfortable with you ok? But just so you know the only place I want you to be is in my arms”

Amanda melted further into his arms when his brushed a kiss along the top of her head, “I love you Mandy,” he whispered against her.

“I love you too, Keven.” Mandy held on to him as she thought of what a fool she had been for believing in the rumor, she just might have lost him and that would have torn her to shreds.

I hope you liked it?

No Room to Spare...(m)

Suzie pulled into the lot of the local diner and sighed, "Did everyone in town close shop to come have coffee at the same time?"

She looked for Jim's car and spotted it to the far south, next to a dark green Suburban. "Oh, wonderful. The bitch is here too." She ran a hand through her dark shoulder length hair, then stepped out. "This should be fun."

Stepping into the noisy diner, Suzie thought she was in the clear to get herself a slice of toast and a cup of coffee before heading home. As the glass door closed behind her, making a whisping sound, all heads turned her direction. The sudden silence was deafening to Suzie as people continued to stare at her. Then the whispers started, and snickers were close behind.

She squared her shoulders, then tucked her handbag under her arm as she made her way through the crowded diner, looking for an empty table.

"She's gotta lot of nerve coming in here..."

"Who does she think she is?..."

The loud whispers meant for her ears followed her to the back as Suzie hoped that there would be somewhere to sit. With horror, she squeezed past Jim and Carol, took four more steps, then stopped as she realized that there was only one empty chair in the place.

"Don't even think it." Carly Simmons, the local hairstylist said. "If you sit here, I'll lose most of my customers."

Suzie half-turned and gazed around. Her eyes met Jim's first and Carol's second. She quickly looked away, focusing on a now vacated bar stool at the counter. She started to walk away.

"I'd let you sit here if I thought you could shut your mouth for just one minute." Carol hissed behind her.

"Why?" Suzie turned to face Carol, willing herself not to cry.

"Because you're my sister. I love you, even though I can't understand why you would come back here after the trial and all."

"I think you'd be better off leaving." Jim said quietly, glancing up from his coffee cup.

"Why?" Suzie looked down on him. "Because I killed your best friend? Or because I got off?"

"Both, damn it!" Jim stood and pointed to the door. "Just go the same way you came in."

"Yeah!" came from somewhere towards the front of the diner.

"That son of a bitch you called your best friend tried to kill me more than once." Suzie wiped at the tears on her cheek. "I had to kill him. He would've killed me eventually... Why do I even bother? Sis, I'll send you my new address."

"Don't bother!" Jim yelled at Suzie as she weaved her way through the crowd and left.

Suzie got into her Intrepid and gunned the moter as she scraped at her tears. She pulled onto the north bound lane of Highway 183 and never looked back....

Here's mine

Millie shuffled her way to the back booth in Red’s Diner where her sister, Tillie sat. She pulled off her navy coat, placed her cane under the table and plopped down onto the hard, wood bench seat.

“Damn nation, you would think that Jerome could afford seat cushions.”

Candi, the young waitress came over, “What can I get you?”

Millie scanned over the other diners while Tillie answered, “I’ll have the meatloaf, mashed potatoes, corn and ice tea.”

“What would you like Millie?”

“I’ll have the same but throw in a piece of apple pie for dessert,” then she handed over the menu and said, “I’m fat and happy and not ready to lose weight to impress the undertaker.”

Candi smiled and left to place their order.

“Guess what I heard while I was getting my hair done.”

Millie took a sip of water then answered, “What did you hear?”

Tillie licked her lips, and said, “I heard that widow Star is pregnant.”

“Oh my, the husband hasn’t been dead for a whole year and she’s pregnant? Who’s the father?”

“That darn hair dryer was so loud, but I think they said it’s the sheriff or detective.”

Candi carried and placed two glasses of tea onto the table, “Your order should be up soon.”

The homey atmosphere and the aroma of good cooking with the elevator music enveloped the sisters as they waited.

Millie shifted her weight, “Yesterday I was at the doctor’s office. My leg has been swelling up anyway there was only three of us waiting and the nurse comes out and says, “Virginia” I looked at the lady two seats down from me and asked her, “Are you Virginia?” She said, ‘No, but I wish I was, I’m starving and have another appointment in 30 minutes.’ I told her about my leg and she told me about her heart test. Anyway she leaned over and said, ‘ Five people have gone in through that door. I think that they’re taking a coffee break while we sit and it makes me want to go in there and say HEY!’ I chuckled and said, “People go in and they Come out, don’t they?”

She never got my joke she just looked at me funny. But later when a nurse opened that door we blasted her with our complaints.

Candi brought our plates heaping with food to our table. Millie wolfed hers down while Tillie picked at hers.

“What’s wrong, aren’t you hungry?”

“I didn’t sleep well last night.”

“I told you to drink a glass of wine; it’s good for your heart.”

Tillie leaned forward, “I know that you’re going to think I’m crazy but I know what I saw!”

Millie raised her eyebrows, “What did you see?”

“Well, last night, there was a full moon and I peered out of my bedroom window and saw Greg, my neighbor naked, running in circles around a tree, chanting something.”

Millie giggled, “How many glasses of wine did you drink?”

Two teenagers near their table interrupted their conversation by speaking loudly; “Did you hear what that DJ on the radio said this morning? asked the red head.

The blond laughed, “Yes, he said that he does a snow dance, which is running in circles around a tree, naked. And he plans to keep doing it until the neighbors complain. Because he wants it to snow. Is he crazy or what?”

Millie gazed at Tillie, who broke out a dazzling smile, “I told you!”

And that's why one should never (m)

jump to conclusions. Nothing like some good juicy gossip to get a town hoppin'. I loved the line, "The look that Amanda gave her could have melted the cheese on Stacy's sandwich." Great ending too! I didn't expect the girl to be his cousin.

Great job, Sammi (m)

This was totally different than what I expected. I thought Suzie was going to be the “town slut” so congrats with the successful twist. Also, great job with the setting. I had a vivid image of the café.

Thanks! I enjoyed your TT!

Good characters (m)

Millie and Tillie were too funny and I loved Millie’s answer, “I’m fat and happy and not ready to lose weight to impress the undertaker.” Your TT was fun to read and I got a chuckle over the snow dance.

Mac

PS...I think you and I had a psychic connection today. As I was waiting for my car’s oil change, I wrote out my TT (which I’ll post a little later when I finish typing it). But anyway, I had a Millie and a sheriff in mine too.

My TT: The Chit-Chat About Clyde (m)

Richard Bowman rolled down the passenger side window of the cruiser as the CB radio barked, “Sheriff to base.” After spitting a mouthful of tobacco juice into a white styrofoam cup, he reached for the mic. “This is Sheriff Bowman.”

“We got us a robbery, Sheriff, at the First Bank of Cassville,” said the dispatcher.

Without taking his eyes off the road, Deputy Edwards said, “Damn fool finally done it.”

Speaking into the mic again, Sheriff Bowman asked, “Misty, do we have a count yet on how much money was taken?”

“Nawsir. Kinda hard to figure out right now.”

“Why’s that?” Sheriff Bowman scrunched his busy eyebrows together.

“Sheriff, he stole the whole bank. The Branch Manager’s callin’ from a pay phone at the Stop-n-Go across the street,” the dispatcher answered.

“All right. Tell him we’re heading that way now,” the sheriff said, and then turned towards Deputy Edwards who was laughing. “Am I missing something?”

Deputy Edwards bit his lip but couldn’t retain his composure any longer. “Well, everybody’s been talking about how ole Clyde Benson’s gonna rip off the bank.” The deputy wiped his watery eyes. “Nobody knew he was gonna drive away with the entire bank.”

Sheriff Bowman continued staring at his deputy. “I just don’t see how it’s possible. How do you move a building?”

“Kinda easy. It was a one of those modular things.”

“Who the hell puts a bank in a trailer?” Sheriff Bowman asked.

Deputy Edwards smiled, “Only in Cassville, Sir. Welcome to town.”
