A top of the Morning to ya, MAC...good questions today!

1) Would you call yourself a “morning person” or “one that gets going after the stroke of midnight” or something in between?

Is a morning person defined as someone before or after they've had their pot of coffee? My natural "get up an go" engages after 7PM, so I guess I'm an in-between.

2) What’s the cleverest advertisement you’ve heard or read lately?

Boy, nothing comes to mind...Not a shopper by instinct, just by necessity.

3) What was the last thing you ate?

Before the pot of coffee, San Fran Scallops and spinach fettuccini with herb zucchini last night.

4) Who would give a stand-up comedian more material: your family, your spouse’s or your best friend’s?

Definitely the hubby's...whew, we are talking nut cases~the lot of them.

5) If you were to talk to a group of first-time writers, what’s the biggest piece of advice you would give them?

Write! Write down everything that even slightly strikes a spark, carry some sort of notebook, even if its one of those mini-spirals (2 x 4 in.) and write everywhere~waiting in lines, doc's offices, car repair, airports, school functions or meetings that are full of stuffed shirts and you need to look like you're participating, EVERYWHERE! As "E" and NIKE say, "JUST DO IT".

Just Stay Clear Until...(m)

1) Would you call yourself a “morning person” or “one that gets going after the stroke of midnight” or something in between? I get up early, around 5:00 am, when I have to work, but it takes a little longer for the brain cells to engage. (Usually around 10:00 am is good for me.)

2) What’s the cleverest advertisement you’ve heard or read lately? I like the one where the delivery guy is in the elevator and the big-business executive sees that he has The Wall Street Journal and tells him to stop by sometime, because they're looking for a new VP for a certain area. After they step out, another guy towards the back of the elevator says to another, "Hey, aren't you the VP...?" And the VP is frozen with horror. You gotta admit, this commercial is clever.

3) What was the last thing you ate? Fried chicken and corn for supper last night.

4) Who would give a stand-up comedian more material: your family, your spouse’s or your best friend’s? Definitley my family, we definitely fit into the 'seriously twisted' dysfunctional family mode. LOL.

5) If you were to talk to a group of first-time writers, what’s the biggest piece of advice you would give them? I would give them this qoute: "Only the hand that erases can write the true thing." By Meister Eckhart, 13th century mystic

My Friday Five

1) Would you call yourself a “morning person” or “one that gets going after the stroke of midnight” or something in between? Definitely not a morning person! I have to set my alarm clock an hour ahead to get up on time. I've tried setting two clocks, putting the clock across the room so I have to get up to hit snooze - nothing works.

2) What’s the cleverest advertisement you’ve heard or read lately? Nothing comes to mind - I don't really pay too much attention to advertisements.

3) What was the last thing you ate? A kellogg's nutrigrain breakfast bar.

4) Who would give a stand-up comedian more material: your family, your spouse’s or your best friend’s? My family is rather eccentric, and would provide TONS of material.

5) If you were to talk to a group of first-time writers, what’s the biggest piece of advice you would give them? Practice, practice, practice.

Here's mine (m)

1) Would you call yourself a “morning person” or “one that gets going after the stroke of midnight” or something in between?

I’m definitely a “midnight girl” but I force myself to go to bed by or before midnight so I can wake up the next morning.

2) What’s the cleverest advertisement you’ve heard or read lately?

“We’ll go out on a limb for you” – it was a tree service company but I don’t remember their name.

3) What was the last thing you ate?

A pickle last night around of a quarter of midnight. As I’m preparing the coffee maker for the next morning, those darn jars of pickles and olives always call my name. And I have so funky dreams so I’m sure there’s a connection.

4) Who would give a stand-up comedian more material: your family, your spouse’s or your best friend’s?

Mine for sure. Jeff Foxworthy would think he’s died and gone to material heaven.

5) If you were to talk to a group of first-time writers, what’s the biggest piece of advice you would give them?

Buy the Synonym Finder by J.I. Rodale. Back when I started writing here at Ivillage, one of the CL’s (Cyndula at the Writing Exercise Board) suggested I get it and that was the best advice. I don’t know how I’d be able to write without it.

Starbuck addicts, DARK FRENCH ROAST brew!! Lord have mercy. and I love that ad too. Forgot all about it until you mentioned it...even though it's not a Starbucks ad, I totally identify with the woman's frantic search and surrender!! *wink*
