It must be the (m)
M&M (Maria/Mac) thing or either great minds think alike!!!
Thank you for reading my TT and your comments,
Mac
Hey Maria, thanks for looking so closely! (nt)
Super job, Sammi (m)
The scene was very vivid, the dialogue right on and I LOVED that her description of Gilbert..."low-down-two-timing-double-dealing-cheating louse!" Funny!!!
This was a very enjoyable story and you plugged into the elements of the exercise perfectly.
Mac
Creative and funny!...
I got a kick out of your characters names: Dainty Miss Maisy and Amens. I could picture her talking with that Alabama accent.
Excellent stuff, Sammi.
Have a good day, Eyewrite
Miss Maisy...
sure must be somethin' to get off soooo easy!
Fun Read, Sammi!

TT -- The Words Get In The Way
Bewley Windpincher knew something had gone wrong when his fingertips began to burn.
Bewley cursed colorfully under his breath while exhaling a simple cooling spell. As his fingertips began to cool, Bewley realized that he’d be pulling another all-nighter. He was an apprentice wizard, second level, and he knew better than to leave his homework assignments to the last minute. But he’d just received the latest chapbook from Curly Moe the scrivener – the long anticipated one containing the Further Adventures of Flouncy Fanny – and, well, before Bewley knew it all of his spare time had slipped by.
Not that Master Baster would accept any excuses. Not for a homework assignment as important as this one. Bewley knew that his performance on this particular homework assignment would determine whether or not he would be able to don the curled shoes of an apprentice wizard, first level, or whether he’d have to continue to wear his well-worn boots.
And it was a simple enough assignment. In fact, some of the more adventurous apprentice wizards, third level, tried it occasionally. And occasionally, to judge by their boasting in the dorm room afterwards, they claimed they were able to get it to work. The assignment was to conjure up a love token via a basic fire elemental. The aim of this assignment was to increase an apprentice wizard’s chances of finding a cleaning partner for the upcoming Haypole Dance. (As everybody knew, you needed a partner for the Haypole Dance since cleaning out the local farmers’ haylofts by yourself was not a pleasant task.)
Bewley put his singed fingertips to his mouth and tried to figure out what had gone wrong with his spell. Had he placed the emphasis on the third syllable, or the second? Were his sigils backwards? Had he used a crimson candle rather than a vermilion candle? Any number of things could have gone wrong. Bewley would just have to start over again and work through the spell carefully.
Bewley’s feet had gone to sleep while he’d been thinking about the spell – and, at the very back of his mind, about Flouncy Fanny. Grumbling, he shifted himself to a more comfortable position within his protective circle. He took a deep breath, closed his eyes, and began the spell.
To the uninitiated, nothing but a stream of babble emerged from Bewley’s mouth as he chanted the proper spell. To those dues-paying members well versed in arcana, Bewley more or less got the spell correct.
Bewley opened his eyes and beheld his love token. It was unlike anything he’d seen before. It appeared to be a small box, with the words “Cabana Boy’s Red Hot Pepper Thong” written across the front of it. Smaller writing on the box claimed that the contents were edible and cinnamon-flavored. Bewley opened the box, confirming his suspicion that the contents looked nothing like his comfortable undergarments.
A cockerel began to squawk outside. Bewley sighed, gathered up his love token, and left for Master Baster’s morning lecture.

Cool, Ramona! ...(m)
I like the magic aspect to your story. And you incorporated the words of the exercise very nicely. I patiently wait for the next installment to this. Sammi
Thanks, Jade...n/t
Thanks, Maria...(m)
...this is one of the few stories that I've written that doesn't have a warm bodied hunk in it. LOL. Thanks for taking the time to read this. Sammi
