In light of the other thread I had to share a phone call I just got 5 minutes ago. My one SIL who has had the hardest time buying the kids challenges called me. She has a friend with a child who is having trouble. Corrine couldn't even pronouce Asperger's but instantly thought to tell her friend that she would call me.
She called me to see if her friend could call. That I was a good resource. That my SIL understood a little of what this friend was going through because she had a niece and nephew with this. That it wasn't the moms fault and she needed help in a frustrating time.
Finally, years later THEY ARE GETTING IT!!!!!!
BTW, for you newbies, go back a few months in the posts and find the email I wrote to the whole family when I realized that they really had no clue what was going on with the kids. It to this day is being mentioned by them as the thing that helped them "get it"

That's great Renee!! I know how it feels to have relitives that done "get it". I might even need to borrow some of you letter to compose my own...depending on what happens this weekend with my ds at the family reunion. He is going with my parents, who totally "get it". It is my other family members that don't. WE will see.....I am glad thay are finally getting it.
