First day of summer vacation

Oh my gosh. Was it this bad every yr and I just block it out of my mind? Hannah and Kyle are sooo grumpy and whiney. Hannah's already said she doesn't know what to do, that's her version of I'm bored! I told Kyle to go outside and ride his bike. I didn't notice he was dressed in a long sleeve shirt. Its 80 here today. So he came in shortly and is in melt down mode I'm sure set off by being too hot. He's saying life just keeps getting harder and harder and he can't take it anymore :( Please let this transition period end quickly. Why can't school be year round?!
Thanks for the vent.
Samantha

Samantha,
We have til the 15th for Nathan and the 16th for Tyler....then it's our summer vacation! I'm kinda dreading it myself! I know my boys will be acting the same way too. Nathan is scheduled to start ESY at the end of June, but it's still going to be rough. He never wants to do anything. All Nathan wants, is to sit at home. And Tyler wants to GO, GO, GO!!! If feels like things are going to be harder this summer for Nathan, but I hope I'm wrong.
We're still trying to sell our house (no offers yet), so it would be nice to get into a bigger house for the summer. The boys would have more room, and we could buy one of those huge trampolines for the backyard!

Hi Samantha,
We're in school for 3 more weeks, but I remember last summer being hard. And that was w/ my typical kid! What worked for me was "getting out of Dodge" and taking them to my parents for a week. It distracted from the fact that school was out, and by the time we came back they were easier to transition into summer stuff.
