This is the postcard I got in the mail yesterday

Positive Commendation for: David B---

Your student:
Is a pleasure to have in class
Is a good participant
Is helpful to others
Has a positive attitude
Shows responsibility
Follows directions well

Comments: I appreciate David's great behavior in class! He is a beautiful example for the other students. :-) Mrs. F.

(yes this is the same child who tantrumed for hours in school when 3, needed a ton of behavior help and at one point spent an entire school day in and out of restraint for self injury and aggression)

Going out to celebrate with lunch with a friend

Wow - give that boy a high-five!

Sounds like you have a good teacher - we are finding that the teacher's attitude makes a big difference in both how Colin is perceived and how he behaves. The fact that she'd write a note like that and send it home is a really great thing!

Let's hear it for positive reinforcement!
