another question........

I was wondering - do kids with PDD or autism usually have sleep problems, texture issues and have a problem with changes in routine? Do most autistics like to line up toys or exhibit stimming behaviors? What about allergies? I've read that there is a correlation with food allergies?
true or false - lol?

Just me researching to death again.

TIA

Beth,

This will probably add to your confusion, but here goes. Both my kids (7 and 5) are probably on the Spectrum.

>>I was wondering - do kids with PDD or autism usually have sleep problems<<
One of mine did until we started therapy, the other sleeps like a stone for 11 hours

>>Texture issues<<
Both do, but usually to different textures, and it varies in intensity.

>> have a problem with changes in routine?<<
One does, the other is much more laid back, -except with the bedtime routine. Don't MESS with that!

>>Do most autistics like to line up toys or exhibit stimming behaviors?<<
One of mine does, the other does not, but writes constantly -started making the letter "k" in neat rows at about age 2.

>>What about allergies? I've read that there is a correlation with food allergies?
true or false - lol?<<
*Sometimes* true, but not in our house that I know of. They were very picky eaters, one a pizza fiend, the other an unwitting health nut (salad -no dressing, Any kind of veggies -including Lima beans, grilled chicken, -no sauce, brown rice, would run a mile from a burger. She's *5* and has eaten like this since starting solids.)

Sorry to be so unhelpful, but as you can see just from my two, kids on the Spectrum can vary hugely. My DS is extremely outgoing and can be very personable when he wants to be, which is against (the common perception of) 'type' .

The only way you will figure it out is to have a professional evaluate her, and even then she may be too young for a conclusion. MY DS wasn't diagnosed until he was 5.5, and my DD; -although she gets services as if she was on the spectrum, is not officially diagnosed yet.
