hi everyone, just stopping by for some advice, my ds is now 11 months old and I have had some concerns about him since about eight months, my brother has aspergers but wasn't diagnosed until he was an adult probably due to ignorance of the condition in the 70's, I'm not sure if I'm over analyzing due to family hx but it's hard not worry. Ok ds, he is meeting all his milestones walking, crawling, babbling says mama and dada, eats well, sleeps well, laughs, smiles has good eye contact, appears to understand language ie when I say kiss mama he kisses me (most of the time lol) he reponds to his name, and to 'no', likes water baths, sea, swimming , drinks from a cup, plays appropriatly with toys i.e stacks rings, puts shapes in a shape sorter, spins a spinning top by pressing the button, puts objects into a container and takes them out, however he does not clap, wave or point or play so big, he does initiate peek a boo, but dosen't mimic gestures, when I clap to tell him he has done good he dosen't seem to understand, however if I say ta or give it to mummy or put it back he does as asked (most of the time lol) he gives us things like bits of his food or things to look at, is he just a little slow or should I be worried, he also flaps his hands i a twisting motion when upset and has done since he was born but my friends very interactive baby does this also,I am seeing his ped on the 28th and want to know what to say because I know they'll say wait he's a boy etc. thats waht DH and my family say also. any help would be greatly recived thanks sam

Hi Sam,

He's not supposed to be pointing at 11 months! That comes after his first birthday. To me, it sounds like he's doing great!

HE sounds perfect. I am having the same types of issues with my DS. DS will be 1 on Saturday and does not do nearly as much as your son does. I go back to the hospital at the end of Oct. for another eval. In comparison, my son does not make eye contact, does not respond to his name, does not follow one step commands. BUt he did point at the cat this weekend and say baby. Weird. DS does not imitate any baby games or initiate them. Plus he does not joint reference. I think your baby will be fine. I wish mine was doing half of what your DS is.
