What a day...

going into whine mood, warning.

Have IEP for Cait in 2 hours that I am soooooo not looking forward to. I have been spoiled by thier elementary school for the past couple years and suddenly have that feeling like I am going into the Lion's Den again. GRRRRRRR

AND, DH just left for 4 days for a conference and won't be back until late Sunday night. Weekends have been our only time to talk and it just feels like everything is constantly on hold. Not it is on hold longer.

Plus, the kids have been beastly lately. the thought of 4 days alone is sending me to the store this am to stock up on wine. Haven't had any in the house for a couple weeks. It is time.

Renee,

I hope the IEP went well. I feel like I was in the lions den today at our meeting. Carbernet has been my friend lately, lol. Have a glass for me. I ran out!

((((hugs)))

wish I could offer you some other comfort or girding up for the battle you may have to fight in middle school. But I have found that fighting and fighting for all you can get in middle school is what you have to do. It's not easy and middle school teachers are not at all empathetic or sympathetic to one child's issues (as a whole anyway, individually you might find some really great ones). They have so many students and hardly get to know each individually (I've found that many don't even bother to look at the IEP unless you put it in front of their face and force them to notice the accomidations and goals.) and if your child is quietly suffering they will continue to suffer unless you make an issue of it.

That said, in sixth grade we had 2 teachers out of 5 that really tried to make a difference for Warren. In 7th grade we had 1 teacher that was really his champion and another that tried to understand and help him-- the other 3 didn't get it. We were in a different state in 6th grade but really there wasn't a huge difference!

Hope you have a good experience and get really good goals and accomidations out of your meeting!

Renee,

Hope everything went ok with the IEP. I don't look forward to the weekends myself. Dh works on the weekends, so I'm left to deal with Nathan. We can't go anywhere on the weekends, can't do anything....just sit at home. I spend the whole weekend breaking up arguements between the boys, watching Nathan obsess and watching him straighten everything around the house!! LOL Oh....and getting yelled at by Nathan for doing things the "wrong" way!!!
