I cried too. I have the author's book, "Overcoming Autism," which is a nice, easy read with some good suggestions. This was a touching article and I can't even imagine the teenage years to come.

Wow,

That was awesome. I have to say that I had to send that onto my sister-in-law. It reminded me of her son this past weekend. My nephew is classic autistic.

Well, he and Emily were sitting outside having a conversation and it looked so darn typical it was sweet. They were sitting on a bench and he has his legs crossed and looking intently following the conversation, she was sipping milk. They talked about schools, monkey bars, math. Typical stuff.

A year ago he couldn't hold a conversation at all without loads of support and reminders. He and Emily are 3 months apart and have always been pretty close in an Autie/NT way but now it is like they are real friends and it is very sweet. He is about the sweetest boy in the world.

Oh, and on the empathy. Same thing happened. His mom was telling me about how she fell and hurt herself and he came to find out if she was ok and get her a bandaid where as the NT brother just kept watching TV. Sweet kids.

The story hit home. Cait is noticing boys and getting love interests but doesn't know what to do with it. She has that Aspie friend who is a boy but they are drifting apart because they don't know how to keep a relationship going. Here's hoping they find someone.

Mike's therapist told me the other day she thought Mike would get married some day. I hope so but I don't see that happening currently. He is sweet too. One will always hope.
