Can't lie about HP, ROFL

Update on the situation with the boy who was lying to Mike.

JP goofed. He decided to lie about Harry Potter and Mike totally caught him. The boy said he had book 7 and 8 at home (which haven't even been written yet). Mike almost believed that one and then went on a rampage of asking JP details about Harry. Well, I gotta tell you I would have gotten half of the questions wrong. But now he is convinced that JP lied to him about reading HP or having books 7 and 8. Naturally, I tried to convince him that it wasn't possible for JP to have 7 or 8, but Mike wouldn't be swayed. JP lied because he thought a Horcrux was a poison flower.

The one thing you don't want to do is try to lie to an Aspie about his obsession.

Just had to share.

Unwise move JP.....very unwise.....LOL!

(my husband and I have this debate going back and forth as to whether Harry is one of the horcruxes.....then the only way that Voldemort could ever be destroyed would be if Harry was killed as well......yes, we're nerds!!!)

Dear Renee,

That is TOO funny. But also very sad, as it is clear that JP has no control over his "lying". Who in their right mind would lie about such a thing as books 7 and 8, and to Mike the Harry Potter fanatic? This is proof positive that JP is out of control here, poor baby.

I do hope this doesn't have to mean that JP is "bad" in Mr. Mike's terminology.

Sara

BTW, we all love Harry Potter over here as well. All 3 of us are HP nerds, well, dh and I more than Malcolm, but he's a fan as well.

Ohhhh your bad. But good point. I wouldn't put that kind of twist past Jo though. LOL. I am a nerd too. My DH hasn't finished book 5 or 6 yet and it is killing me.

I know. I felt bad for the kid too. I don't know how Mike will take it. He was pretty proud of himself for figuring it out but it could go overboard.

For JP I think alot of it is attention seeking. He is having such a tough time this year and in the past he has gotten alot of attention for his big stories. But we are looking totally at the boy who cried wolf thing. He is the kind of kid who always has to one up you. So no matter what you tell him he has to go one better and now he is dying for attention since he is having a hard time with friends.

I feel bad for him.

I think you are right about the "one up"ing.......Chris (our JP) does that too.....like I said.....his tale about going to Disney the same time as us.....he claims to have gone on Amtrak.....my son loves trains and Chris knows this (who doesn't).....so Chris had to have one up better than son.....not only was he going to Disney too but he was going on a train.......son whined to us the whole plane ride down about wanting to go on a train to Florida.....

Hoho. JP had to be found out sometime. I am glad Mike figured it out alone, but am concerned for his reaction. I hope he will try to understand that JP isn't "bad", but the whole concept of "degrees" is difficult to 'splain to an Aspie; -as you discovered with the foul words incident. And "intent"... well, we've talked about that also...

I feel bad for JP. I grew up with a "JP", whose life was miserable, and she invented a fantasy world to escape it. Unfortunately, kids -even NT ones, don't see the underlying reasons for these kinds of behaviors and brand the "JPs" of this world as liars.

It's sad.

P.S. I like the "Harry as horcrux" theory. Hadn't thought of that. I 'splains a few things, but not why Voldemort tried to off him in the graveyard after regenerating a body.

Paula,

Your right. No way Harry can be a horcrux. Voldemort has put to much into killing him. I won't go further into my reasoning why harry can't be a horcrux because I would totally give away my nerdiness, lol
