OK, you all have me thinking again about the MMR, etc. Both of my boys are going to the dr in a couple of weeks.

Jack (HFA or AS....noone can decide?!?) Did have his MMR and other shots on schedule. Last year at his 4yo visit, I chose to forgo the MMR if they weren't going to split it, which surprisingly the dr didn't start arguing about. In fact, the Dr. said that actually he doesn't need one until he's about to enter Kindergarten. Since that time, we moved to Michigan and I found out that they will do an optional blood draw and see if there are any antibodies from the previous MMR. If so, they will forgo the booster...

OK, Sam (2.5 NT) NEVER had the MMR. His doctors wanted to wait until his speech developed, blah blah....because of Jack's diagnosis. (makes you wonder why they'd give it at all, right?) So now, Sam is talking like a champ, is as normal as all let out..... So, now what? Are the docs going to push the MMR on me now? WHat if I had it split? Is there ever a GOOD way to get the immunity? (I'm currently freaking out about the Mumps outbreak in the midwest since we're in Michigan.....) Not sure if I could forgive myself if Sam got the Mumps.....OR if he had a toxic reaction to the Shots....

ACK!!! Any insights would be GREATLY appreciated

In IA they have reported that 80% of the confirmed cases of mumps were in people who had two doses of the vaccine. So getting the vaccine does not mean you won't get the mumps anyway. Weather they'll pressure you to get the vaccine I guess will depend on the doctor. Regardless if they pressure you the choice is still yours. I personally wouldn't but that's just my personal decision. If I were to ever I'd insist on separate vaccines.
