my town!!! Two OT's at the hospital here in town held an informational meeting last night about sensory modulation dysfunction. I went with some other parents from our support group. We all are or have in the past taken our children for therapy in a town 45mins away. I'm thrilled there is finally something locally. They said they focus on really looking at your childs day and finding sensory diet activities that are simple and easy to work in without feeling like you are doing therapy sessions at home. We definately need that! The home program we have from the place 45mins away was definately therapy sessions at home. It was always a struggle to get compliance with the exercises and now that we aren't going to therapy anymore its all gone out the window and we are doing nothing. I see sensory issues getting worse or coming back that were gone. Like Kyle was wearing jeans and now he's back to only wanting sweats and something new-refusing to wear shorts. dd's gotten horible about having her nails trimmed and shoes have become a big issue. Thank goodness for croc's -the only thing she'll wear. The school keeps sending home notes saying she has to wear tennis shoes, lol. Yea right. If they won't let her wear croc's she'll be going to school barefoot!
Oh, and the OT's do theraputic listening. We started that with dd but just couldn't keep it up because of the drive. I'm excited to start it again with her and ds is needing to do it again too. He says his ears are getting "sharp" again.

Now I just have to find a doctor to give us an order for it. I hate doctors and we don't have one right now I like. Anyone know if a chiropractor can order OT? I doubt it :(

Samantha,

That is great. Do you have a pediatrician even that can order it for you? Why not see if the chiropractor can? No harm in trying anyway. If not suck it up and go to the doctor you think most likely to give you the referral.
