Double vision, seizures and more school

I am considering keeping cait home from school today. Here is the latest.
Yesterday morning and evening, Cait had episodes lasting about an hour each of double vision. I put a call into the neuro (since she also has epilepsy) and it appears it may be a side effect of her seizure med - LOVELY! As DH says "There's some fine print for ya" (in shrek voice. Ok so Mike gets the movie lines somewhere)
Well, then I also find out that Cait was very sleepy all day and "fell asleep" in one of her classes. Of course no one is really keeping an eye on her for me like they are supposed to. I am pretty sure they either didn't notice or just got on her case. Cait reported it, none of them mentioned a dang thing. At any rate, that level of sleepiness is usually related to seizures for Cait.
Third, my friend the OT is the OT for Cait's school. I am staying away from that one because of the issues I am having with the school. However, said friend observed Cait in class yesterday and it was disturbing to me. It was a sub in her social skills class but he subs alot and all the aides were there. She kept her head down the entire class even when writing and no one bothered to address it, talk to her about it, etc. She didn't have the paper they were working on because she was out at the orthodontist last week. So Cait sat without a paper for nearly the whole class. The sub and the aide talked about her and over her head about the paper but no one helped her look or gave her one until my OT friend looked for Cait and got her one. Cait was trying to write all the info down on notepaper and had to ask them a few times to slow down. She was kind of the center of attention but not in a positive way. There is more in her notes I will see later she tells me. She took notes of everything and some is just for my eyes and info because she thought I should know. She is going back for 2 more observations.
So now I don't want to send her today. I am worried if she has a seizure no one will be flipping keeping an eye on her. I think she wants perfect attendance though and won't want to miss. I will check with her this AM and may just keep her home.

Oh Renee, I'd keep her home. Although I understand how difficult the pressures of perfect attendance can me, something's just not right and you've got to figure it out asap.
Scary...flippin' scary.

This is too weird Renee! I just got a call from my dd's school this afternoon from the spec. ed facilitator. She said they observed my dd had fallen asleep on the bus at 10:30 on her return from the swimming pool. They've never seen her do that before and asked me if thought this was a seizure and to make sure I knew about it. They said her eyes were closed and she was snoring and woke up when they got to the school and complained that she was starving.
Thinking about your post as she was telling me this, I made sure to thank them for being so observant and caring.
In her case, I think she was simply tired, but I just thought it was too weird we had similar experiences and such different outcomes (of educator's responses).
Did you end up keeping her home today? The double vision is scary. Hopefully the neuro can help you soon. How is she feeling now?
Yep, kept her home and the neuro didn't call back. I spread her meds out a little on my own and that seemed to help.
Yesterday about 1-2 hours after her dose she would have about an hour of double vision so I think that is med side effect. So today I gave her 1/2 the dose at the regular time in the AM and then the other half after a couple hours and no complaints. I usually give her nighttime dose at dinner but instead I will give it just before bed time.
I am not sure what to do when she goes back to school on monday. I can't really split the dose up by a couple hours unless I get them to give it at school and i want the neuro's approval before I do that.
No kidding on the difference eh? I even emailed them today about it and no response. However I know that the AS support teacher is out until Monday so maybe no one checks her email. But I doubt it.
