Ya know the rest. Yucky day in the Mike department.
1st went to meet with school psych (see her lovelies in separate post) and found out how mike is doing thus far in the testing. Appears he melted down at each and every auditory task when there was any background noise or it was from the tape. Kicking the table, screaming, etc.
They can't complete the whole cognitive battery because of this so it looks like we won't get a full IQ test again this time. What they did test was all over the board from 65 (really low) and 88(below average) to 139 (superior). His full scale looks about 115. His auditory areas where all right at the average range with 90's which is a significant discrepancy but still within average (so I am informed we don't usually do anything - see other post) despite the meltdowns. However, she did note that his auditory skills in the general ed classroom are horrible. The kid misses simple directions like take out your paper or stand up or even his name. 1 plus.
Then Mike gets his first pink slip of the year for kicking a kid in school and elbowing another and nearly having another meltdown. According to Mike they were "taunting" him which could mean anything.
He had a meltdown in the general ed class yesterday. Saw the general ed teacher last night and suddenly the recomendations to have Mike full time have disappeared.
I went and volunteered today and he was so off. Making noises, repeating the last word the teacher said (e.g. Mrs. W "Take out your book on volcanoes", Mike (in odd tone) "Volcanoes!") The aide would go over and redirect but I guess he was like that all day.
Some boy came up to me and asked who I was. When I said I was Mike's mom he pointed at the aide and said "I thought that was Mike's mom!" OUCH. I know it is natural but still.
Finally, for the grand finale, Mike threw a MONSTER meltdown tonight like he hasn't in months. It was ugly.
and He never finished his homework for the night and he always does and now that will set off his day tomorrow when he realizes it but he just doesn't have it in him to finish tonight.

Maybe he's all stressed out from having to listen to his sister play the clarinet?
(((HUGS)))
I'm so sorry the honeymoon is over, I hope it was just one day or two even and then he'll get things back together over the weekend and next week will start out great and keep a goin'

Sorry to hear its not going well right now with Mike. Do you think the testing has him stressed and its carrying over to the classroom and home?
Samantha
ROFL, Evelyn, you are too funny! I would think so if it wasn't for the fact the rough stuff started before the clarinet. Though we all had either music on or headphones and made her practice on the other side of the house. I can't believe Miss Auditory sensitivity can stand that.
Actually, I think it is a combination of the testing stress carrying over and the honeymoon being over. He has been "growling" in class and such for a couple weeks but usually can turn it around. I thought that would be as far as it would go (as far as honeymoon) but the testing pushed it that much further.
It just best not get anyworse. He has 5th grade camp in a week. If he does anything major he could loose the opportunity to go. At least that has been the rule in the past.
I think his teacher would make sure that she protected him from that happening, BUT his teacher has been out for 2 days with surgery. She was planning on being back today but I don't see that happening. I will have to stop by the school this morning and talk to his aide and the sub. Fortunately the sub is a friend since our boys went to Kindie together.
