On all the other stuff.
Mike- the school district decided to provide an audiologist eval for Mike and so did my insurance. Now I have doubles on hearing tests, geez. When I spoke to the school I had agreed to do the audio through insurance and they agreed to do an FM trainer (amplificaiton system). Well, Mike completely melted down during the audio parts of his evals combined with they need an audio person to consult on FM trainers, the school has ok'ed doing a full set of testing too. Don't know if I will do both. Have to figure out if they are the same or different.
The music therapy front wasn't quite so great. They agreed to talk to the MT that consults with the local area districts to see if there is anything that can be done in class to help Mike. I am not sure there is but I know the MT from this area and DH has known her for a long time. I trust her input so I will leave it at that. I was hoping for individual but I doubt that will happen.
Cait - I mailed in the IEE request to the district and am waiting to hear. I didn't even send certified this time cause I just didn't have the time. Probably kick myself for that later but oh well.
Her grades had started to do better so I felt bad for making such a deal out of it THEN....I just checked ehr grades today and she got a 50% on her math test on Friday. She also had a high F or low D in social studies because she had gotten a bunch of 0's for not putting her name on work or forgetting to turn things in. Common people, she isn't on an IEP because it is fun to go ot meetings. Can we say simple accomodations? Of course it wouldn't have been addressed or even noticed if I didnt make a stink.
The other kids are fine-ish (ish, lol). Dave keeps "pulling cards" in school. not horrible but it is getting to be a pattern that has me worried. Still haven't heard about his speech IEP yet. Emily is emily. Easy as pie and sweet.
One of the OT's at work quit in a not good way last week and has left us in a spot. Boss wants me to work more hours and I am trying to figure out how to fit it in. And besides that I should be doing my homework instead of posting here. lol.

oh but posting is so much more fun and entertaining than homework ;)
LOL @ the "she doesn't have an IEP cause the meetings are fun to go to".....
I always get a kick out of your updates.
A good portion comes naturally, another portion is a coping mechanism so I don't lose it (and sometimes I do) and a really big portion is just time in.
When Cait was in preschool and I had no supports and no online community my outlook wasn't so positive. My natural positive nature would still prevail enough to cover around folks so they didn't know how I was really feeling. And then a good portion was just a coping mechanism. It can't be that bad sort of thing.
Now, it is mostly just time in. I have seen enough ups and downs and ups again and know where my kids are at and where they are going that I am cool with it. It is like that one book on adolescents on the autism spectrum I love. Basically it says for the most part once you have gotten to where your kids are this age you have accepted that they are who they are. You have a good handle on it and have learned to laugh and enjoy life as is in many ways.

Sorry about the MT but it sounds like its a good thing they are doing the audiological testing. I hope it gives you some good info.
Sending you P&PT's for the IEE.
Samantha
I do hope the audiology exam sees more answers than questions.
