My dd is 9 years old and dx'd with Aspergers and general anxiety. We are finally getting a good handle on things and are doing so much better than just one year ago. She started 4th grade this year and thanks to her IEP, she is finally managing at school. Last year was so bad I had to pull her out and set her up with a home tutor. I am so proud of the progress she has made.
and for bonus points:
What is your favorite guilty pleasure: At the moment, my favorite would be digging into a big ol' carton of chocolate ice cream. And I am really craving some right now!! :)

Noah-9-Asperger's:
He's extremely bright, has some significant relationship issues, but is about as close to a "classic aspie" as you can get.
Claire-6-Autistic:
Her problems are fairly significant and include overall language & communication delays, SID, etc.
My husband is an unDx'd aspie, and I also have a neurotypical middle child, Emma, who is 7.
Well, I'm navigating my way around Weight Watchers, so I don't allow myself food related guilty pleasures right now. And I rarely, if ever, watch TV...so I guess my guilty pleasure is scrapbooking. I consider it guilty because I'm unemployed right now, and it's an expensive hobby. :-)

Guilty Pleasure is watching Nip/Tuck, knowing that it is such a bad show.
Name-- Betsy
Location-- South Carolina (tho I'm a midwest transplant not quite at home here yet)
Some information about the child/ children who bring(s) you here.
My middle child, #2 son, Weston, 10yrs old is Dx w/ (autism) ASD. He has significant SID difficulties tho it's getting much better, communication/language difficulties and stilted/stuttery speech. He's mainstreamed almost all of his day in gifted classes for Language Arts and Math, regular classroom for science and social studies and specials. gets speech therapy and OT regularly and PT consult. I have his IEP next Tuesday-- I hope I get some answers-- the gifted teacher just doesn't seem to "get" him or ASD at all! I'm hoping the district autism consultant can help us out!
I suspect my oldest, Warren, 15, could be an aspie-- but currently he's Dx ADD-NOS and SID, w/ asthma, allergies and severe eczema to sweeten the mix. He's in a special "academy" at his high school and doing VERY well.
The youngest, Owen is a very spirited kid, our Dr doesn't want to Dx him yet but suspects ADHD-I and his is Dx w/ SID but it's moderate.
We have 2 NT DDs, Amelia and Martha, who are delightful and yet difficult as well. Both have learning differences, esp having to do w/ reading and math.
and for bonus points: I found this great hot chocolate mix at Sams the last time I was there. It's fair trade certified so it's not so guilty as it could be!

Children
Cait - 12, questioned development since 1, tested and developmentally delayed at 3, PDD-NOS at 4 and Aspergers at 7. She currently has a diagnosis of Aspergers and epilepsy and is about as close to classic aspie as you can get now. She is a free spirit and should have been born in the 60's as a flower child. She LOVES animals and smelling things. Never realized until this am the plethora of smells a cat's feet can have. Now THAT was a conversation! She is in middle school in an AS program with an aide for her inclusion classes and 1 support period a day in the ASD classroom. She also is in Band this year! She is playing clarinet and LOVING it.
Mike -10, somewhere on the autism spectrum, closest thing is HFA only he had no language delay. His language problems are now communicatively. He is the polar opposite of his sister. He is more your type A personality with a twist of autism. However, he is the kindest, most thoughtful, generous spirit ever created. He is in 5th grade in a special ed classroom but is now mainstreamed for 2/3rds of his day and has a 1:1 aide all day.
Emily - 8, diagnosed sweetie peetie. She is a flakey blonde with a great brain. She is kind and compasionate but a master at manipulation! She is the glue that holds together all her quirky, interesting sibs.
Dave - 6 only real official dx that fits is SID. He has had others including PDD-NOS and ADHD and even question of bipolar. Though he has quirks of all of those I am not sure any one fits him and not sure he needs a "label". He is Dave. I know he is definitely significantly SID and he also is an independent minded, spirited young man who will be some sort of a leader. Hoping for business or world leader and not mafia. We are trying not to squelch his intense spirit but at the same time reign it in enough to keep life livable and keep him out of the principals office.
Favorite guilty pleasure - need you ask? Red wine baby! ok and I love to watch crime drama's. I am a glutton for CSI (the original), Criminal Minds, Law and Order (all of them) and Without a Trace. Now if I can just find the time to watch them.
