Malcolm plays in Recital

OK, and you all know Malcolm is a natural performer, runs in the family, AND he has been noodling out tunes and harmonies on our piano and guitar since he was very little... But as part of homeschooling, we started him with a piano and guitar teacher who lives in our neighborhood, she is terrific and they work together "brilliantly" (she uses that phrase alot).

Tonight she had a recital for all her students, many little kids, some older and already playing classical music. Malcolm was SO well-behaved, clapped for everyone, complimented everyone (even if he sotto voced slightly otherwise quietly to me about a few performances lol). Even though he has only been studying 6 months, he wanted to play and apparently had promised his teacher he would perform. She always lets kids back out if they really don't want to, though...

But he wanted to, so at his turn he stood up and announced his name and piece in loud, stage-worthy voice, bowed --- and then sat and played a rock/blues song of his own creation, 2 hands, so confident, did just great, ending was a little off timing wise, but hey --- he stood right up to wild applause and bowed again like a maestro...

Just hadta brag a little. Kid just cracks me up.

Sara,

Brilliant! ;)

Thanks for that story and visual. It cheered me up.

That is awesome news about Malcolm. I'm glad his first performance went well and was so well received! Nothing like a bit of positive reinforcement to keep

Way to go Malcolm! I'm so glad he did so 'brilliantly'. I'm glad he loves the stage so. It's great that he was able to play his own piece!
