Well, I don't know what's going on right now with both boys, but especially Liam. I'm assuming it's a combo of the birthday, beginning of Spring break (thus break in schedule) and some mild spring mania.

He's regressing a bit in certain areas. Lately he's been complaining about tags in his shirt, undies and pants, something that has really never been a huge issue; of course I've been cutting them off for him. He's also become huuuugely obsessed with Star Wars....again. Just when we think it's on the wain, it rears back up. Thank God he starts 60 mins one on one OT this Wednesday, we're paying out of pocket, but by God he needs it.

He's also just a bit more beligerant than he has been lately, you know more back talk, loud voice, that kind of thing. I started the picture schedule back up and that seems to have helped with some of the obvious anxiety, but I'm still worried. As for Cian the kid will be 4 in June and he could still care less about the potty; at this arte he won't be able to go to any camp if he still is happy to sit in his own poop.....sigh Oh and they want to cut his speech from 60-30 mins a week, but to be honest for what's in his IEP he's hitting a lot of those goals and is working on 4 year old sounds and he's not even 4 yet so I may let them.

btw: Roan rolled over....yea!!!!

Dee,

It's probably a combination of things, but you are right to keep an eye on it.

If it's any consolation, I used to notice that Peter regressed right around a progression: Say his language suddenly picked up: his behaviour usually went to the dogs for a few weeks, and then would eventually go back to where it had been pre- language burst.

I wish I could advise you about the potty. Miss J in preschool managed that one for us. The dude was

My kids have been acting like crap all day! Hayden had about 500 melts downs, Mason was screaming constantly, and Madison thinks she's 15. They were all really sweet for about 15 minutes before bed time, lol.

We noticed it too. That big HUGE gnarly full moon. but heck we had a sense of humor, we went to church THEN out to dinner. Only cause he was in happy overstimmed mood. Wouldn't have if he was in angry overstimmed mood.

In church we turned MANY heads. I told DH that Mike went completely Rainman on us and he couldn't disagree. Some parts were a bit embarrassing but I don't embarrass too easy. Keep on doing what you are doing. They do learn and grow up....eventually. lol.

About the potty, I can only say that potty training is evil. Beyond that, yeah what Paula said.

And WTG Roan! Whooo hooo. How old is she now?

Renee-
Yeah we decided to challenge ourselves too and tried church, lol. Actually Liam was fairly good, it was Cian who turned heads. We have to be active in the church for 3 months before they'll let us ask for a baptism date for Roan which is why we are torturing us all in this. We'd also like to have Liam make his communion; only problem is I think he'd die a social/behavioral death in a CCD class, which means I may have to homeschool.....yeeeuch! Roan will be 4 months this week..can you believe it?

Paula-
You know he has made huge strides with academics, reading and such the last week or two, perhaps you're onto something. My Mam always said I was a bag of rats right when I was hitting a developmental milestone....ah bollox

We homeschooled Mike for first communion. He went the first half of the year and it was a big mistake even though he had been going (or trying to go since preschool). I was even the CCD teacher most of those years or right next door so it would help. HA!

The other big mistake was trying to make him go through the big ordeal mass for his first communion and a party. It was awful for all of us particularly him. You should have SEEN the meltdown after church when we had about 20 strangers in the house. Intellegent me decided to combine our party with friends dd and her relatives where here too. Was I stupid or WHAT! I wanted the big party like the other kids.

With hindsight and knowledge I have now I would just approach the pastor, explain the challenges and my concerns and ask advice on what to do. A friend did some basic home lessons with her son and then just had son recieve at a regular mass and it was ok'ed by the priest.

Come to find out they cannot deny a sacrament to someone who truly wants it. This whole class thing is just an attempt to make sure we mean it but it is not a neccessity particularly for kids with SN. I know this because I used to take out a boy on day trips who was severely handicapped/delayed and he had made his first communion so I asked how he was able to.

Dave has his 1st communion next year as well. He is our last thank god, then we start Confirmation a couple years after that. We are even thinking of switching parishes to make his because our DCM is neurotic but Cait loves youth group.

LOL, nough of that tangent.
