Watch baby video's of their kids if they watched the ABC news spots on early indicators of autism?
I did but not on purpose. OMG! If I knew then what I know now, lol. I can giggle about it because miss Cait is doing great. Jury is still out on Mr. Mike though. You can see from 7months that Cait is autistic. I posted what I saw in another thread so I won't bore you all again.
The kids are having too much fun watching a bit older so I haven't dug out Mike's baby ones yet.
HOWEVER, there was this video when he was 2. It starts with us calling his name probably 5 times with no response as he is turning the tv on and off repeatedly. Finally DH goes up and physically cues him to my and the camera. He walks over to the camera and suddenly his hands are in front of his face and it is like they are the coolest thing ever created! I would have sworn Mike was no stimmy until older but there it was in full color. Never did respond to me on the camera that time though.

I actually taped Adam's last tumbling class and had to rewind some footage from ealier this year.
I really wanna take some time and go back a year, that's when we had the autism bomb dropped on us. We have seen him mature and grow on so many levels.
As for baby videos, I'd say we say a change between 18 months and 2 yrs.

Funny you say that. I haven't finished but I did find some baby ones of Mike.
At 4 months he was very engaging. Giggling at Cait, etc. More interactive and engaging than he is now. I remember that around 18 months he started having these horrible tantrums usually when waking from his nap. He would cry senselessly for an hour or more. We notice alot of changes around that time and before that we thought he was perfect baby.
Honest, the ONLY odd thing I remember with him prior to age 18 months is sensory things. He wasn't a fan of being held and would not fall asleep in your arms from the day he came home from the hospital. He would also SCREAM if he was rocked. He had to be swaddled very tightly and for a very long time. But that was it. Then at 1-2 we thought he was deaf and he had some odd play, etc.
Since he is more affected than his sister and she was obvious early as not responding to us, etc. I didn't expect him to be so responsive.
My DH says that kids that regress are CDD but those kids are severe. Then he says early intervention, but Mike didn't have early intervention (his language was not delayed significantly).
Very confusing.

Oh, I just thought of this, as an infant, ds hated sunlight!!!
I'd laugh and call him a vampire, just like MIL. LOL
To this day, I call him Mr. Ambiance, cause there is only a few select lamps he likes to have on. God forbid I have the overhead kitchen light on, LOL
Kid is funny

Nora,
If they are florescent (sp) lights, he probably hates the sound they make.

The funny thing is, they're NOT florecent LOL. They're light bulbs in a ceiling fan.
He looks around at how the light is angled into room and he does it ALL the time.
We have florecent in the game room but that doesn't phase him at all.
As for noise, it's the blender that does it. I am huge smoothie drinker for breakfast, and he's not loving it cause he can't hear his leap frog game. The vaccuum makes him made too cause it's too loud and he can't hear his game.
OT
Funny new fear, it's the AFLAC duck, the penguins from Happy Feet (why who knows) and the old guy from the Colonial Penn Life Insurance man
LOL
Sigh

Is it the brightness of the light he is sensitive too. How is he outside in daylight now? Have you considered something like Irlen lenses for him? They are colored glasses some folks swear by. This maybe the kind of situation where they may be beneficial.
As for noises, vacuums, toilet flushing, the smoothie maker are all big nasties here too. Now that they are older they are much better. Cait is better than Mike. If I give them a warning they are usually ok and they just leave the room and shut the door and tough it out. If it is a bad day Mike will come running out "TOO LOUD MOM!". The worst is 2 things at a time. DH was running the shampooer in one room yesterday while I had the vac in a nearby one. Mike was not happy bout that one, lol.

Every year around his birthday, Isaac likes to watch the previous birthday videos, which is about the only time I have videos of him since I don't have a camera myself.
