Awful Day

Well we went to the big bday party with 70 people in a LARGE home. Needless to say they have dogs which ds has allergy to dander, they are put outside, and he still rubs his face on their sofa and carpet------HELLO swollen eyes.
He hates her food and is starving and when they sang "Happy Birthday" all hell broke loose.
It was SO bad, we had to leave. We were there about 90 minutes.

I am just beside myself. You never realize what you don't see with your dx'd child until you're surrounded by a dozen of NT's.

I am just in a low place right now. I need to have my Zoloft rx filled tomarrow.
I sucked down 2 beers while there, God knows I needed it.

We've done gatherings there, just not to that caliber.

Just needed to put my misery out there

{{{Nora}}} Sorry it was such a sucky day. Were considering taking nicholas out of Boy Scouts because its so bad there for him. Family functions are harder because it's not like you can quit them :(

Ya know it's not normally not that crowded when we goto parties. This was a rare event. Granted the pet dander was really irking him over the edge, the flipping singing is what drove him past the edge!

He hates that song, we haven't sung it the past 2 bdays for him for that reason.

Sweetie, trsut me, if I had taken Liam to a room full of 70 people and had an allergy plus "happy birthday" barked in his face we'd have had to leave too. the onkly reason his day went as well was because it was in his house, on his turf and relatively on his terms. Gotta love our concrete thinkers, lol....((((HUGS)))))

Poor guy and poor mom. I am so sorry. I hate those kinds of days. Is it in the air. There seems to be lots of this kind of stuff going around this weekend.

What is UP with the Happy Birthday thing? Claire absolutely hates it too! We've got at least three years of b-day pictures with her hands clasped over her ears. Last year we got smart and did the lip-sync thing instead.

Hugs to you...we've all BTDT, but at times like this, that knowledge really doesn't help too awful much.

I'm sorry that the party didn't go well. I know how frustrating that can be. I hope today is better for you.

Funny, We have been converting old home movies for the past few days. I hadn't even remembered this but on the 2 birthdays I taped past the first birthday Mike was screaming. I didn't remember it going that far back. He was 1 1/2 (Cait's b-day) and 2.

No if it is just family he tolerates it but ONLY ONCE when he is getting cake and he doesn't like it. But he will tolerate it.

Cait on the other hand seems fine with it. My autie nephew used to insist it be sung again and again. At his birthdays we would sing it 3-5 times it seemed. That made Mike good and crazy but he usually tries to tolerate it.

The home birthday party keeps reminding me of Mike's 1st communion party. It was awful. He spent the entire day either screaming horribly or hiding in his room. He finally came out to play on the computer briefly when the cake came out. We had a combined party with a friends dd so her family decided to sing Happy 1st communion to the tune of Happy birthday. Sent him right back to meltdown mode. Haven't had a b-day party since. Did do a little thing for Emily's 1st communion (with the same family, their kids are all my kids age). It went better that time with age, practice and social stories. They do grow up thank god.

We have a wedding this summer. The first one since Mike was 6 months old, and I am already nervous about it.

Ya know Renee so do we but our wedding in in December. the 15th in Virginia and getting down there will be a pain in the a$$ cause of xmas, and we are trying to decide if it it's worth the headache.
It's my dh's nephew. My SIL is the clueless/denial kinda relative who thinks ds is okay-yeah right.

I am kinda breaking it gently the next few months that it may not be such a good idea that we come.
