Hello. I'm new to this board. I have three children- a 16 mos. old daughter, a 3-1/2 y/o son, & a 8 y/o custodial stepson. Our middle child was recently diagnosed on the high functioning end of the Autism Spectrum. He was diagnosed by his school. We're currently seeking a medical diagnosis, but it takes months to get in. My son goes to (early intervention) preschool for 2-1/2 hrs. each day, as well as he receives speech therapy once a week at this time. I was a little afraid coming to this board, as I had a bad experience on another board, but I thought I'd give it another shot. I hope to "meet" some new friends. Gina

Welcome Gina!

No worries, this is a very nice board. These ladies have a wealth of information, and its a great place to vent when you need to also.

I hope you stick around :)

Where can I find the abbreviation definitions? Since I'm new to all of this, I don't know what a lot of them mean. : )

Hi Gina! Welcome to the group! I'm sure that you're going to love it here. Everyone is very supportive and caring. It's a great place to receive/share advice and to vent about any problems that you might be dealing with. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!

Hi Gina, welcome to the board! Pull up a comfy chair and dive right in. This is a safe board; badgering and bullying is not allowed. I'm sure someone around here has a plate of cyber cookies... Lainie, do you have them?

In addition to the board we have regular chats. Right now they're on Thirsady and Saturday nights, but we've also played with weekdays... just haven't come up with a time that's good for more than 3 people yet, lol.

Here's a link to the Board Dictionary. It's out of date though, so it's not complete, but it will help.

Anyhoo, I'm Candes in AZ. My DH (dearest husband) and 2 of my 6 DDs (dearest daughters) have AS (Asperger's Syndrome), and another has Kanner's (classic/infantile autism). My youngest is parapelegic, but NT (neurotypical... not on the spectrum). I've been a member of the board for about 5 or 6 years.

Again, welcome. I look forward to getting to know you and your family better.
