Hi gals,
So much been going on, but Nick had his kindy orientation today and he did great, much to my surprise. Actually earlier in the day, we took him to the school for a personalized tour, one-on-one with the principal. It took about 20 minutes to get him into the building, a promise of a couple of new Hot Wheels cars (yes we resorted to bribery), but he finally came in! Once inside, he was very intrigued with everything. He got to see his classroom and meet his new teacher who is very kind. She seems like she will be good with him.
So at 4:30 was the orientation and we went with 2 of his friends/neighbors who are starting with him and are in his class too. He walked right in to the building with them. We sat for a 10 minute talk with the principal and then each teacher called her students up to the front, I told Nick, Go on bud, he walked right up, stood with his class, and they left and went to their classes. He never even looked back! I actually teared up, I couldnt believe he didnt try to hide and then left with them! I guess his personalized tour helped. When our Q&A session was over, we went to the class and they were playing with lego's, blocks, etc in the class and he was having a good time. Not really interacting with anyone, but he was happy.
Now, if the first day of school, which is Wednesday, goes this well, I will be on cloud 9!!

I'm so glad it went well! I think if you take the time to lay the ground work-- and work and work and work on the expectations-- transitions like this go much better than expected.
I hope Wednesday is good too!
