Karate update-awards

Well, in order to preserve what little sanity I have left, I realized to drag all three kids to the belt awards at karate was mental suicide on my part. (Liam wasn't getting his due to attitude and behavior, but Cian had earned his fair and square).

In hindsight I recognize that last night at testing Liam was overreacting to the chaos of the gym with all the kids and no real structure to work with. Not condoning his behavior at all, but I also know better than to walk into the train wreak again, kwim? My only regret is Cian now won't get his belt until class next week as dh is off working....AGAIN! Seriously I am in essence a single parent these days. His paycheck better be HUGE this month!!

I may be able to pop in at adult award time and receive my own belt, but once again it all depends on dh and HIS schedule. I know it's not his fault, as the debt we're in was unavoidable (reverb from the move last year and a crappy housing market). Still, once again something that could be nice has been denied us as a family simply 'cos I can not tell you how Liam will behave, and the eggshell walking which isn't fun in my own house is nightmarish when in public.....sigh

Oh Dee darlin', I am so sorry about this...and your wee pity party is well deserved. I sincerely hope you're able to attend the adults belt ceremony. You need your TKD and the belts are a symbol of your doing something for you! (Even if you are doing it WITH your kids.)

I'm proud of you...and wish I could be there to keep an eye on your babies. (Lord knows as the school year progesses, I'm seriously regretting DH turning down that job.)

Hugs to you, dear friend~

Dee,
Once our families get to know each other, I would love to help out. I am home a lot since it is easier that way. I could use a friend who could help out in a crunch and understands our kids' special needs. I am fortunate that my in-laws live in town and are willing to help. It must be hard for you if you don't have family in town. I hope to be able to help in the future.

Thanks gals,

I ended up bagging the whole event; wasn't worth the grief, kwim. I'll get my belt in class next week, which is fine. Cian will get his patch to make him an orange decided belt. No harm really as the kid thinks he's getting a yellow belt this time (you try to explain to Captain Concrete otherwise...sigh) and there may have been a nasty tantrum in public from aspie #2, lol.
