Finally a voice of a person who is fighting a good fight WITHOUT Autism Speaks putting their 2 cents in!!! I was blown away by Jenny's story today. Us "ole" times get it with the whole diet, therepy and hope routine....
I am so happy it wasn't the "woe is me" pitty party. She said it best my son has autism but not autistic.....I really got into that--------deep.
The best was the CDC FINALLY didn't just put a blunt statement saying the inoculating (sp?) isn't the cause, they bascially said "we don't know what causes autism" In my mind it's a step in the right direction on finding out WHY our kids are being robbed of some things in their lives........slight victory in my eyes. I guess I also agrees with Jenny saying they should (our kids) get their shot, but ONE SIZE DOESN'T FIT ALL----aint that the truth.
Watching her up there tell her story, voyage of how autisim came into her life, that could have been me telling that VERY SAME STORY.
Try to search You Tube for it. It's not on Oprah's site yet, however, Jenny is doing a special message board if ya'll are interested.

I caught the tail end of it and was bummed as I'd loved to have tivo'd it. I willdeffo hit utube though. Here ya on the Autism Speaks smotherers.
Dee
I also was really impressed with Jenny and also Holly. I'm not a big fan of Oprah usually and to be truthful, I didn't even know who Jenny McCarthy was (I'm so old and out of touch!

Hi LR,
I thought about you and the seizures.
Katherine, I think you said it beautifully.
HI samantha
Ya know April 19th, 2006 is the day I died too......I totally got what she was saying. It wasing like I was shot right thru my heart. Yes I had to grieve to realize that THIS WASN'T MY FAULT---I DIDN'T CAUSE MY SON'S AUTISM. I was was mad at the world and God all at once. I guess after I grieved I threw myself into getting educated to help my child.
I agree with "controlling' the issue not "curing" it. Curing it would be unheard of. There are more sucess stories about ASD kids it gives us hope. Sadly the last decade had to pave the way for us now. Those kids then didn't have NEARLY what we do now.

I too am beginning to wonder about seizures, shots and autism.
