good morning all. i just received results from a hair analysis we did on our son and were shocked to see numerous metals that were considered high! now we have more questions than answers. we didn't go through a pedatrician for the test (a relative of mine is

I guess the question is what do you want to do?
Do you want to consider chelation? If so, you need to find a trustworthy doctor in your area who will work with you on this. You will also need to research, and do your homework, backwards, forwards and sideways, because chelation can carry quite serious risk -including death, and not all doctors are ceated equal.
The best way to find a practioner (for anything) IMO is through local moms. If you are a member of a local ASA chapter or any support group for special needs, try and find other mommies through that network who have worked with the doctor on ethe particular thing you want to do and get first-hand references and advice.
I have not done chelation

The key is to find a decent DAN doc near you that will help with the chelation process. Different metals (high or low) need different approaches. We are ready to send the hair sample away too. I have a good friend who pops in here now and then who is in the process of chelation for her ds (7) and I just saw him last Sunday and he was NIGHT and DAY from when I first met him, kwim....(Hi Susan!!) I also met a friend of hers and his ds (7) and they had gone the biomedical route and I could barely tell this child was ever dx pdd. Now don't get me wrong, some kids do well on an organic diet, others gf/cf, others just boring old therapies (speech, social, OT).
I know chelation involves so much in terms of the various creams, supplements and time and energy invested, not to mention $$$ (Doctor fees, product fees). Still I am definitely curious. Listen to Paula, ask the local ASA chapter about DAN docs; expect to pay mucho $$$. The one I will look into locally here (Atlanta) is between 200 and 500 a session, and nope...no insurance accepted, sigh.
