Oh Ginny. I remember that first day of putting Tom on the van and being ready to fall apart.

(((HUGS))) I hope his day went just fine. It's so hard to have to start something new--most of our kids hate change-- and the bus is a big scary new thing.

I had to put Ryland on a bus and send him to school for the first time just a week and a half ago.

Awe Ginny, I am so sorry. That is so hard.

How did his day go after all that? How did he do when he came home.

It will get better. Maybe a special toy to take with him on the bus.

It is so hard for the little ones to understand that it is ok to be on the bus and that they will see mommy at the end of the day.

I live a sheltered life, and our school district has neither buses nor preschool...but I'm having a hard time digesting the fact that little bitty kids are expected to ride on a school bus to begin with. That never ceases to feel strange to me. Look at other primates and their young. At a comparable stage of development, a baby gorilla or chimp would still be spending most of it's time within arm's reach of its mother. Try telling mama gorilla to put her baby on a bus. :)

That's just my little soapbox moment, so please excuse me. I do think the social story was a good idea.

Maybe when he realises that the bus not only takes him away, but also brings him back, he may be happier about getting on it!!

Mornings are so chaotic around here with my DS, 13
