Bionicle OBESSION, anyone?

How about you, Renee? Are Bionicles still a major part of Mike's world?

I thought our YEARS of Bionicle obsession were mostly over, but apparently David was only taking a break. It's back in full force, only now the Bionicle guys have gone through many more iterations of their collective identity crisis. They can't decide whether their home is Mata Nui, Metru Nui, Voya Nui, or now some other place called Karda Nui or something. The Toa "heros" get uglier and more petty and immature with every incarnation. Even Greg Farshtey, the guy who wrote the first 600 books, has apparently called it quits. He probably recognized that he was beating a dead horse.

He's so obsessed with Bionicle, that he can't think of anything else, talk of anything else, or tolerate other people's discussions of anything else. One positive thing is that David has no interest in the movies.

Homework is suffering more than ever, because he can't stop thinking about Bionicles long enough to do a math problem.

Funny thing, though, my nt kid is just as obsessed with Star Wars. The difference is that, with him, if I say, "No, I do NOT want to hear you list off all the Jedi masters again," he will actually refrain from listing off all the Jedi masters. If David wants to tell me all the Toa Korduka and their respective mask powers, he'll stand there and list all the stuff even if the house is burning down.

And, uh, okay...I'm obsessed with Alan Rickman. But I don't force people to listen to me list off my favorite movies, or interrupt other people's conversations to say, "Funny, when I offered myself to her, she showed a certain reluctance." or "There will be no silly incantations or foolish wand-waving in this class!" Okay, sometimes I do. But mostly I resist the urge. LOL!

Yep. I guess the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. But why does it have to be Bionicle? And for so long?

Chad goes back and forth to Bionicles. His obsessions always focus around space/robots.
