We're all aglow here!
Weston, 11 in 6th grade, and Martha 8 in 3rd grade were in 'Block Kids Contest 2008' today. It's a building block construction contest put on by the Nathion Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) every year in many states in the US. It's for kids in 1st through 6th grades (there might be one near you!). I have a dear friend who works in construction & is on the board of her chapter here in the Columbia area. She knew how much my kids play w/ Legos so she sent me entry forms. Anyway, there were about 60 kids there participating. There is a winner in each age group and then an over all winner. The over all winner's design goes on to the regional contest and the winner there goes on to the national contest.
Weston won his age group and also was the over all winner. He built a Roman aqueduct. It was very good. At first I couldn't figure out what it was, but after he explained it the whole thing made perfect sense. He had the proper arches and everything.
I'm so proud! I thought I was going to ball right then and there when they were giving him his award.
oh, and Martha didn't win, she was sad, but very happy for her brother!
