Dear Samantha,

What a godsend those passes were, though. Those long lines would have been murder, and not waiting on them made for such a happy day!!!

The only thing we did in advance was to get a letter from his school, which was a private special needs school. You can also get a letter from doctor or psychologist, therapist, etc. that states your child's disability. When you are at Disney, there is a customer service center outside the park where you take the letter to get the passes.

I would so not feel bad. Go for it, and have a super time there. Just being there is stressful enough!!!! Think of the pass as a gift to YOU, Mom!!!

We go up to the "town hall" when you enter disney. I believe the one in Florida is the same and has the town hall. We took with us a copy of the IEP pages that stated disability and a spot where it said he had a hard time with crowds, waiting, etc and highlighted those.

The second time however we didn't even need it. We just had to tell them why I was told.

What we did last time waas just to have the pass with us. If the line was short or it was a non-issue then we didn't use it. If he was getting stressed or we could see something may be a problem we used it. We went in winter so there were very few lines and we only used it 2 times but in the summer I could see it being very helpful again. The time we went in the summer it was a god saver.

Renee, I don't think the kids IEPs say anything specific about crowds & waiting.

Another thing also is if you have the pass. And your child does not choose to do the ride for what ever reason. I know Universal

We went in spring (last March actually), so I decided to forego the passes and just try it.

Samantha it was me who's going over Mother's Day to WDW Florida. When I was booking my reservations with Disney I informed them my child had autism. They told me to bring a doctor's note indicating that (need one for the airline too) and that will get me a fast pass from guest services inside the parks.

Basicaly we enter thru the exit OR if it's a long line we'll be assigned a time for later on to ride that ride. Disney is wonderful in helping me book this and all my information is on file in there records of my son being handicap.

I usually get a "pass" at other parks too but don't use it if the line is managable. My son needs to learn that waiting is part of life. We've done this with him and we use reinforcers like candy while waiting in line.
