Both my AS kids loved the computer as kids, and I let them use it waaaaay too much. They used it more around your dd age than they did over the next few years, esp my dd. I don't know whether I ruined them or not, but I can say it provided some much needed breaks for me! We also loved the Jump Start series of CDs.
My kids don't get much computer time nowadays, but they finally got gameboys last fall/winter. It's been a double edged sword for my 9yo AS ds. It's wonderful for calming him (and giving him something he feels like he can relate to with other kids), but it's also made his meltdowns much worse when you try to transition him to something else. I think he gets too absorbed into his little game world. My 13yo AS dd doesn't have the same difficulty with transitioning away from it.
gabe uses the computer too...but he can't do games yet...we only have a lap top....so he has to use the mouse pad...right now he is only using a talker on the computer to help him communicate...and he does very well with that...he can knows how to turn the volume up....back space his words...and can multi step his talker to get to a certain word he wants....I was amazed he picked up on it so fast! we leave the computer up all day...but he really only goes to it when he wants to tell me something...or play songs on his talker...he loves to "sign" twinkle little star and london bridge to me...and i love when he can do that....

I think some kind of timer would be great. Only issue would be if she had sensory issues with noise. My son hates the timer sound.
We use a chart with my son. He gets cards worth a certain amount of time and velcro.
Well right now it is new and exciting so she wants to do it alot.
