Just wondering if any of you have seen a positive change, new skills emerge or new words/actions emerge during an illness?

I have noticed that my younger guy is much less prone to tantrums while sick.

Yes, if you read "enzymes and autism" by karen DeFelice, she addresses this about virus and autism

I just asked this question on the speech board not that long ago...because I noticed when gabe has a fever his speech is more clear...and his sensory issues aren't as bad....i also notice an improvment when he is on an antibiotic....

Peter is never sick! I think the most recent illness was Strep last winter and no changes then. I can't remember when he last had a virus. I can't remember if he used to improve when he was little.

Siobhan is sick much more often but doesn't have any gains when ill.

I always knew that Lily was sick/getting sick when she would actually watch an entire 30 minute show on TV. Her attention span is normally pretty short.

Ditto, we usually know when Mike is getting sick because he is SOOOO good. Calm, related. It is like his body/mind are so lethargic it finally slows him down enough to be able to take in the world around him a little.

Of course, right now he has strep which came on like gang busters today and he has actually been worse the past few days but I attributed that to the stress of his play. Yes has the play AND strep. LOVERLY!

But he was up stimming like a mad man until abotu 11 last night and that was with taking melatonin at 9.
