I am losing my ever lovin' mind. Gray is very verbal, but OMG if he doesn't stop this new found screeching phase I will lose it. If he's annoyed he screeches, if he is happy he screeches, sometimes he loves just running around the house screeching his head off...of course when the baby is sleeping. No matter how many times I discipline him he continues. He is THREE years old and a little boy...not a banchee! LOL!

We don't have the screeching, thankfully.

Instead, Duncan likes to make a noise similar to the noise you'd make if you pat your hand against your mouth as you say one long sound.

It sounds like a stim. Peter is a screecher (...squawker, squeaker, screamer, monkey-noise maker and clicker). Try to replace the behavior with something less likely to wake the baby. -It will probably be equally annoying, but but at least they won't both be screaming! This will require some trial and error.

the first is to try and work out why the screeching? is it because he likes the sound (and if so, you are probably doomed), or because he likew to use his vocal "apparatus". If the latter, this is easier to change: See if he can learn to whistle. This was a great replacement behavior for Pete for a long time (before he discovered monkey noises ). Also clicking, clucking, popping, and maybe even chewing may be replacement behaviors which will work.

If he just likes the sound, you may be able fo find a sound which replaced this one. unfortunately, the new sound will probably be just as shrill as the screeching, and will probably be augmented by it, so I don't really recommend this unless you want double the trouble...

Something that helped with my daughter, (though she's an SPD sensory seeker),

Just so you all know my 6 year old NT has been known to screech like a girl sometimes when he is running around playing. I have yet to get him to knock it off. So don't feel like it is just an Aspie thing.
