We have a dog!

We just got a 5 year old cavalier king charles spaniel, and everyone is very over-excited (including the dog!)

Euan is struggling a bit, because his nervous tics (jerking and flapping, mainly because he is so excited) are making the dog very nervous, plus he can't figure out why she doesn't just follow his commands. I am hoping everyone calms down soon and we can start some proper training sessions with Euan once the dog has settled in a bit. I've already had to settle several fights over who loves the dog more...!!! She's gorgeous, although she is a bit like a small, fluffy duster/indicator of the messiness of our house, she keeps appearing with bits of lego and star wars figurines stuck in her ears :-)

Euan is actually on cloud nine right now anyway because he just got back from his day of white-water rafting (a reward for good attendance at his sports club) and managed to not get drowned, separated from the group or eaten by a bear, minor miracles in themselves. Whilst he was away I managed to lose his NT younger brother at the park and that's a whole other story!!!!!

Congrats on the dog. My parents have one too. Just make sure to get a good vet check up. The breed does suffer from genetic defects, like heart issues starting at age five, which shortens their life expectancy to about 7-10 years...unless they have no health problems then longer.
