when Rylee was still in EI and the OT did standardized testing she would see if Ry would immitate and draw a line or try a circle and she would.. but when she draws on her own say today outside doing sidewalk chalk she doesnt attempt to draw anything, ill draw a smiley face , sun, flower, etc. and she doesnt try any of that.. what can i , should i do to help with this ? i know at 3 shes still young but...

I'm no help 'cus I have no idea, but I wanted to share. My now 11yo NT ds was my child to draw at the latest age. Ds never drew anything independently until he was nearly 5yo (and that was a toothpaste stick figure on the bathroom mirror)! He did, however, love coloring patches/scribbles of color. I never realized how meaningful those scribble colors were to him until one day he gave a picture to his grandpa who complimented ds on the colors he'd chosen. Ds face lit up. He was so proud that grandpa recognized his deliberate effort to make color. After that I noticed how carefully ds chose specific crayons to make color. I'd never noticed that before.
Hopefully someone else has ideas on how to inspire drawing skills, but I wanted to point out that there could be other artistic angles churning in your dd head that may just not be as apparent.
I think that if she is already drawing then it might be worth having her try to imitate some of those basic things...lines, plus sign, circle, smiley face.
