Gabe handed me a game last night and said skate k? and I said huh? looked at the game and what he had handed me was Tony Hawk's pro skater 3....it wasn't in a box so he knew the game by the logo on the disk...funny thing is we hardly ever play that game...so I wanted to test him....I held up different disks and he told me the game...he knew gran trismo (called it race car), the cars game, guitar hero, and ratchet and clank.

That is really cool. So many of our kids are so visual and it can be a great help when directing their education.

Cait couldn't answer a question or follow directions but suddenly not long after her 2nd birthday we found her labelling letters and numbers. Those visual (and soon reading) skills have been a huge help to her. Her visual memory is amazing. I also once taught a boy who at 5 was basically non-verbal and uncommunicative (hadn't been able to use but a few signs and no picture communication) but we found through observation, trial and error that the boy was actually reading so we used that with him and he started to communicate.

I wonder if Gabe knows some letters already and hasn't let you know, lol. That would be pretty typical.

I know he knows that letter A....and the right square bracket on the computer....yeah...the right square bracket is just odd...but he knows it....I would vetnure to say he knows more letters...but when we try to play letter games he doesnt' want to do it...and i don't push the issue...i don't want him frustrated....he is amazing with pictures though...and can group all kinds of things into catagory....he had his aac evaluation and the ST that did the eval was very impressed with his grouping ablities...and how quick he picked up on the use of the computer....he uses a vantage on our lap top...but she brought a completely different device and he figured it out in just a few minutes...and was asking to blow bubbles and play cars...he fell down at one point and told us he felt sad....it was pretty amazing watching him interact on a whole other level....I can't wait till we get a device that we can take in our car and to the store...I wonder all the time what is going on in that head of his...and while he is becoming more verbal...he is still way behind his peers...yet there is so much he knows...I just know it...

just a little bit ago a show came on TV and all the was written on the screen was my life as a robot or something like that....I have never seen the show...and I don't know if gabe has or not...but he said robot...there was no picture of a robot...so how did he know that? maybe he has seen the show...maybe he read the word...I can't imagine he read the word...but you never know....

Tony likes to watch DVDs, and especially to pull one from his case, open the DVD player and change out the DVD and push close on the player.
