My first thought reading this is that there may be something more than AS and ADD going on with Noah. Have you considered another psychological or neuropsych evaluation? I have to say, my thought reading this were perhaps there may be having some problems with tics. Has he ever been evaluated for Tourettes Syndrome (TS)? I know we have some kids on the board (and some moms) who have Tourettes, so it is not unheard to have an ASD and TS in the same family or the same kid. I may be way off-base here, but I suggest you look it up online and see if you have any "Aha!" moments.
Paula need to stop climbing in my head and stealing my thoughts!!!!
But yes to reiterate, it sounds like there is something else going on here other than ASD or ADD. I wonder if the concerta is actually massaging the tic behaviour too. It's not unheard of for a med to work for a while and then funk out or even trigger new symptoms.
As for the 4 year old mimicing him. Well my 4 year old mimics his older brother a lot, and he is also Aspie, however I have seen him branch out and away from it more as he got into his own school setting and was away from Liam.
My 9yo AS ds doesn't have a tendency towards tics that I know about, but when he was on Concerta, he was ticcing like crazy. A few days after we started the meds, we were at the therapist's office, and her eyebrows shot WAY up when she saw all of ds new vocal and physical behaviors. We quit Concerta immediately after that and started new meds that didn't have the same side effects.
Hi Julie,
