1) How many smoke alarms do you have in your home? (Checked the batteries lately?)

2) If you were reincarnated after your death and could NOT come back as a person, would you prefer to be an animal, vegetable or mineral?

3) What is your favorite ride at an amusement park?

4) Should the adoption system be just as easy for single men and women to adopt children as married couples?

5) As a writer, what do you hope to accomplish within the next ten years?

My five!

1) How many smoke alarms do you have in your home? (Checked the batteries lately?) Three - they have an indicator to let you know if the batteries are working.

2) If you were reincarnated after your death and could NOT come back as a person, would you prefer to be an animal, vegetable or mineral? My dog Sasha has it pretty good, so I would come back as a pampered dog.

3) What is your favorite ride at an amusement park? Roller coasters. I like plain high hills - no gimmicks like loops or hanging beneath the rails.

4) Should the adoption system be just as easy for single men and women to adopt children as married couples?

I know a woman who is very overweight and has never had a date. She has such a nice personality, too- bright and funny. She would be a wonderful mother, and I don't think she should be penalized because men don't find her attractive.

5) As a writer, what do you hope to accomplish within the next ten years?

Well, I'm having my first article published this summer!!!! Okay, it's in my cousin's little magazine, the kind you get free in the front of the grocery store, but at least it's a start. And now I'll have a clip to submit with queries. Next I hope to have an article accepted by someone I DIDN'T once play "Charlie's Angels" with. I recently also submitted a story to my first fiction contest. So I'm beginning to get my stuff out there. I hope that in the next ten years I will continue to submit my work and have it accepted for publication. I also plan to continue improving my writing, since I think it still needs a lot of work.

My Five (m)

1) How many smoke alarms do you have in your home? (Checked the batteries lately?)

I have two and as I thought up this question this morning, I said to myself. I need to test the batteries in mine – LOL.

2) If you were reincarnated after your death and could NOT come back as a person, would you prefer to be an animal, vegetable or mineral?

I’d say an animal, either a really spoiled house pet such as a cat or dog, or a horse -- I think they are so beautiful and graceful.

3) What is your favorite ride at an amusement park?

I always enjoyed the log ride, especially if it’s a hot summer day and you looked forward to the big splash at the end to get cooled off.

4) Should the adoption system be just as easy for single men and women to adopt children as married couples?

I think so because there are so many well-qualified parents who happen to be single. Plus with the divorce rate as high as it is in America, the kid’s probably going to end up being raised in a one-parent household anyway.

5) As a writer, what do you hope to accomplish within the next ten years?

I hope to have at least ONE short story published and maybe have one of the novels that I’ve started writing somewhere near completion.

Jade, it's an ancient Chinese secret...just kidding (m)

I think some of them up, and the rest I borrow from a variety of places like tv shows and other websites.

I always go with my first instinctual answer...

1) How many smoke alarms do you have in your home? (Checked the batteries lately?)

Two, and yes.

2) If you were reincarnated after your death and could NOT come back as a person, would you prefer to be an animal, vegetable or mineral?

An elephant. They are incredibly smart and sensitive. There is an elephant rest home for too old to work zoo/circus elephants in Arkansas. There were sister's separated after they arrived from Africa, and sent to two different circus'. They were reunited at the elephant retirement home. They immediately recognized each other after 30 something years. Now they are inseparable. I cried through the whole PBS program. Don’t tell me that animals aren’t intelligent.

3) What is your favorite ride at an amusement park?

I hate amusement parks, but I do like the Pirates of the Caribbean at Disneyland.

4) Should the adoption system be just as easy for single men and women to adopt children as married couples?

Yes, but I think trying to raise a child alone is nuts. I've got help and it was a challenge. Plus kids fair better when they have the opportunity to observe both mom and dad, and talk to parents that better serve the age and issues at the time. In an ideal world, eh!

5) As a writer, what do you hope to accomplish within the next ten years?

A short story in the New Yorker. Two literary fiction novels (the characters continue to harass me to bring them to life); and two children's picture books, and a young adult novel. How many books in the last 5 years has Stephen King, Tom Clancy, or Nora Roberts put out? Maybe, I'm shooting to low. Quit laughing!

OHHHHH, NOOO you don't ....

"A" short story published, and possibly a novel you're working on? Get agressive girlfriend. You got talent!

I have to admit I do love a water park. I just don't like the idea of paying to stand in lines (BIG BUCKs)for a six minute ride. But at a water park, if your faster than the rest climbing up the stairs you can go as many times as you want, plus its exhilating and refreshing. So maybe, I'll change my answer to the log ride too. Nah, water park.

Good Eve, Mac. kat

My Five :)

1) How many smoke alarms do you have in your home? (Checked the batteries lately?)

OK ... This is bad! I don't have ANY smoke alarms in the home I plan to own this week. I have to purchase FIVE this weekend in preparation for closing. I'll have to buy FRESH batteries, too! (Cross your fingers that all goes through!)

2) If you were reincarnated after your death and could NOT come back as a person, would you prefer to be an animal, vegetable or mineral?

I think I would like to come back as a cat. My cat, Buzz Lightyear (as named by my 4-year-old son!), has a fantastic life. Sometimes I yearn for just ONE day of lounging in sun spots on the carpet.

3) What is your favorite ride at an amusement park?

It's been a long time since I've been to an amusement park. But I distinctly remember the romance of the ferris wheel. My hometown had a small carnival with a ferris wheel right on the lakeshore. Very romantic.

4) Should the adoption system be just as easy for single men and women to adopt children as married couples?

YES! 'Nuff said.

5) As a writer, what do you hope to accomplish within the next ten years?

At this point, I'm still reminding myself to write every day. (Journals don't seem too intimidating... and there aren't any rules there.) I have a long way to go before I can set actual goals. At this point, I have stories in my head, and I have to write them down. I hope to catch them all as they come. How about that for living in the moment! :)
