I was sifting through the p&p pages and this one caught my eye What's so Great About Being a Parent Anyway?
Really! That is not a facetious question.
Dear readers, please tell me, because if I read one more study showcasing how the quality of your life and marriage decline after having children, I may stop straddling the fence and firmly plant myself in the no-kids camp.
Just this morning, the Today show and Parenting magazine unveiled the results of a survey that asked moms to share the things about parenting that they would never say out loud. The results from the 26,000 respondents revealed far-from-endearing anecdotes like “I cry myself to sleep sometimes because I am overwhelmed and I don’t feel like I can talk to anyone about it” and, “I honest to goodness do not like my son most of the time and knowing that KILLS me.”
It’s all eerily reminiscent of the New York Magazine article on why parents hate parenting that’s been haunting me for the last year. As a 31-year-old newlywed who thinks she wants kids but can’t imagine it happening any time soon -- and who is well aware the clock is ticking -- I’m in desperate need of some reassurance that kids are, in fact, a blessing, not a curse.
Wow, she was brave in writing these words .. what do you guys think?
