Tatum does this too. He doesnt throw it at people, but throws it on the floor all the time. I pick it up and say "I will not let you throw your food." or "we dont throw our food on the floor." Something along those lines. If it didnt get all gross I will give it back to him. Our rule is 3 strikes youre out. I will only give it back twice. 3rd time its taken away.
Jesse will occasionally throw food (and other things), usually when he's over tired or tired of sitting at the table. If he throws it he does not get it back and he gets a stern warning from us. If he continues we remove his food or him from the table. If he really protests (or hasn't eaten enough for my liking) then he can get the food back when he's calmed down and seems to understand what we expect of him.
Connor throws food every single night at dinner. He also misses his mouth and drops food on the floor by accident! We usually just let him know the first time that if he does it again he is all done eating. Then he isially DOES do it again and we take his plate from him. ;)
We are still dealing with this! Last week we started making Gabe clean up his own messes though...and it seems to be working! Surprisingly, he goes about picking up his food good-naturedly. LOL
Hi Michelle :) I was just creeping in and saw this post. Abby was throwing her peas on the floor the other day. I made her pick them up. I think this will work for her. She's really redirectable, and seems to learn quickly from mistakes though (her's and her brother's).
