This is why I love the new dissolvable foods they have for kids. I think a lot of parents (like my half sister) also feed their kids and let their kids run around. If it's messy my sister makes her daughter (who just turned 1 in February) sit still to eat it. But for crackers or tortillas or breads she lets her run around while she eats. I know a lot of parents say this and change their minds, but my children WILL grow up knowing that when we eat we sit down to do it. Even if that means strapping my 1 year old into the high chair even at snack times. I did it as a nanny, and I will do it as a mom.

I used to be a nanny too! Aubrie was a VERY oral child. EVERYTHING went into her mouth and she choked a couple of times and a few times we called 911. I stay up-to-date on my CPR. It wasn't food that she ever choked on but with her it was literally keeping your eye on her EVERY second. We ended up gating an area off and making sure it was kept very very clean. She also had breath holding spells where when she didnt get her way she would hold her breath until she turned blue and passed out! I think the CPR training is so so so important.

The dissolving crackers are great! All I remember having when my kids were tiny were Arrowroot cookies, I think they dissolved but I'm not sure it was quick enough if they'd have choked.

I agree with sitting down to eat in the preschool ages, good habits are as easy to get into as bad ones and the bad ones are too hard to break once they have them.

Hope you're having a good weekend!

Your kids' pics in your signature graphic are adorable. Holding her breath would have scared me too!

Hope you're having a good weekend :)
