Lightweight Car Seat?

Does anyone know of a forward facing, lightweight car seat? The reason I am asking is we are going to fly to Disney World for Thanksgiving and we purchased a seat for Matthew and want to bring a car seat for him for the airplane ride. We have a Britax right now and it is way too heavy to carry through the airport. United said it has to face forward and he doesn't fit in an infant seat anymore as he's too long. Anyone have any ideas? The cheaper the better as it we will probably only use it for travel. Thanks!

I don't know about airline travel with little ones as I've never taken my kids on an airplane but here is an inexpensive seat that weighs 11 lbs.

Karen -

I was trying to figure out how to send you a private message or email, but I'm not figuring out how to do it with the new boards.

You must put your baby in a rear-facing car seat since he is under a year old - both on the plane and at your destination. Even after he is a year old, he should still ride rear-facing. I'm not finding anything that prohibits rear-facing on United Airlines website. It does say that you cannot put a car seat on

I plan on keeping my WW rear facing until he is at least 2 years old, but I spoke to someone at United who insisted the car seat had to face forward on the plane so I guess we will see when we get there.

Thank you! We are leaving Nov. 21st and come back on the 1st of Dec. We have only traveled once with a baby on an airplane and that was 17 years ago with my oldest DD. It was horrible! She was on our lap that whole time and wouldn't sit still. DH joked he was going to throw her out the emergency exit! LOL (he was only joking!). Matthew is a super good baby so hopefully he will be much better. Plus we got him his own seat this time so he will be in his car seat.
