can our jb's go swimming? My dd was born in october in anchorage so i never had to deal with this situation. We have a pool in our neighborhood and want to take dd swimming a lot more often, however it's hot as hell out there and one of us always end up sitting out with the baby and usually going back home because it's too hot. I went to the store and bought him a long sleeved kind of surfer swim suit top that has spf protection and a big ol' hat because they can't wear sun screen until six months .Does anyone know if it is okay to take him in the pool every so often?

In a clean pool it shouldn't be a problem.

I wouldnt see why it would be a problem as long as you JB likes the water and doesnt get to cold. Also because I am sure the water is chlorinate just watch for any skin reactions.

Kaelyn has been in our pool several times. She doesn't seem to mind it.

I was like you...sitting around at the pool sweating my butt off watching my other two kids and DH swim. NOT ANYMORE! We go to the pool around 7pm because it's been so sticking hot and humid around here during the day

Our JB's don't regulate their body temp. until they're about 6 months old, so unless the water is warm enough, I would probably say no.

No I imagine swimming in Alaska was not an issue LOL.
Over here it is almost mandatory to get your children into the water at a young age.We start swimming 'lessons' at 6 weeks of age in a chlorinated pool.It is more an introduction to water and water play etc but it works well. You should have no problem just like Aimee suggested keep an eye out for a skin reaction/allergy.
