With all of these contractions lately, I'm wondering how long my body is going to hold out!

Sebastian, my one year old, was born at 36 weeks exactly. He had no breathing problems at birth. Great APGARS. He had a little bit of a problem controlling his body temp and blood sugar but he didn't have to go to NICU or anything. Late preterm babies can go either way but it seems like most do well.

My neighbor's son was born at 37 weeks with no immediate problems, but was hospitalized a few days later for jaundice. Now he is a 27 lb 8 month old and no health problems.

My son was born right at 38 weeks...I was induced because of my amniotic fluid being low. He weighed 8 pounds 9 ounces and nursed withing the first hour. He had absolutely no problems healthwise!

I haven't (DS was way late), but since 37 wks is considered full-term, she should be fine. I've heard (I don't remember where or have the data to back it up) that since girls develop faster than boys, their lungs generally tend to do better/fine when they're born before 40 weeks.

Thanks everyone, that makes me feel a lot better in case my body doesn't hold out longer. I'm pretty sure I can make it to 38, I hope. Fully cooked :)

I had my son at 36 weeks and he was fine. He had great numbers with his tests and right now he's a healthy 7 year old. My daughter was born at 37 weeks and she was fine as well. Don't worry at 37 weeks they are considered preterm babies no longer in danger.
