The relationship between siblings is one that lasts a lifetime, and preparing children for the birth of a new baby is an important beginning.

My son is only 18 months old and doesn't understand what's coming. I try to tell him things like "There's a baby in Mommy's belly" but he just points out my belly button, or I try to get him to say "brother" and he tries to repeat it. He just doesn't understand at all! I am trying to spend as much time with him as possible while it's still just the two of us, and I'm trying to teach him how to walk up the stairs without my help because I don't know how I'm going to carry an infant seat and an almost two-year-old!

My older three boys are veterans when it comes to being a big brother.

Ds who is my youngest will just have turned 7 a month before the little one gets here. He is anxious and really cannot wait. we are taking him to a sibbling class that we took our daughter to. They go over feeding and helping mommy and daddy get the baby ready with a pamper change how special it is to be a big brotheer or sister. It's a great program offered through the hospital for a small fee. They give the kids a tour of the hospital after the class.
