William Alfred born July 12 @ 10:42pm

Hi ladies!

My little William made his entrance into the world on Tuesday, July 12 on our 3rd wedding anniversary at 10:42pm. He was 36 weeks 3 days and I was induced late on July 11th around 10 pm or so due to worsening pre-eclampsia and cholestasis of pregnancy. He had to go to the NICU shortly after birth because he wouldn't eat. His sugars were very low. That is resolved now and we are just working on getting him to eat enough so he can come home.

I have been pumping like crazy to get my supply going. He is 3 days old now almost 4. He has had to have been fed through an NG tube because he won't take enough from a bottle. But that is because he hates formula. I gave him my BM and he chugged it then when I gave him some formula (at the behest of the NICU staff) he surely gave me the stink eye! So pumping has become my main focus because I don't want him having formula anyway.

So hopefully he can come home this weekend! It was a MUCH better birth experience this time. I was lucid through the whole thing and pushed him out in 27 minutes (half that time they were yelling at me to not push because the doc wasn't there yet). I took me 90 minutes to push out my DD so biiig improvement! I even got to see him as he came out! He was 6lbs. 11ozs., 19.5 inches long and his head was 13.5 inches. A little chubster for a 36 weeker!

I am SO in love. We did have a bit of a scare at first because when my bag of waters broke there was meconium staining. But he was fine, no problems from that. Apgars were 8 and 9.

I'm absolutely overjoyed to have him here now! I can't wait for him to come home! Recovery has been rough because I've had a lot of pain but it is worth EVERYTHING I went through to finally have my baby boy in my arms.

I will update with pics as soon as I get them uploaded on to my computer. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone start posting birth stories!

Congratulations!!! I hope your little man gets to come home soon. Best of luck with the pumping and BFing too. lol @ the staff telling you not to push because there was no doctor there. I hope no one bothers to try and tell me that. Hi, babies and out bodies are ready when they are ready. If you're not there, the tough nuggies!

Congrats and welcome William. I know how hard it is to pump while your DS is in the NICU. Keep up the hard work mamma, you are doing great!! He will be home soon to join you and the rest of the family. Can't wait to see pictures.
